Definitely worth the price.
I'm working my way through this now, slowly. If you're serious about learning Ukrainian, this is probably the best resource out there. You'll get all the cases and declensions you need. It forces you to study and retain material because it doesn't spoon feed you translations you should be able to figure out. That's partly why progress can feel slow, but that's OK. This is just not an easy language to learn. I didn't give it five stars because of the audio. It's nice that you can copy the audio and upload it to a computer or smartphone. I have it on my smartphone now, which is very convenient. But some of the dialogs go by way too fast, and the levels were not matched. For example, there is a telephone conversation in which the voice of the guy on the phone is about one third the volume of that of the other speaker. But at least you have some audio to work with (only selected portions are recorded) and the pronunciations seem good. The presentation is user friendly and pleasant.

Excellent if you study Russian
I’m just starting the text, and it is exactly what I wanted. However, I study Russian (major in university, adult translation classes now) so it’s easy to do comparison study for language learning (change vocabulary, change endings, change pronunciation, and add the beautiful vocative case). I don’t know if it’ll get me speaking, but explanations in the first 3 chapters have already clarified some things while reading Ukrainian. So, if you are looking to add Ukrainian and you study Russian, this will be a huge help.

difficult book for a difficult language
Ukrainian language is way past difficult. Cyrillic alphabet, opposite grammar. In this teach yourself book it starts off with "see spot, see spot run" and eases you into more complex reading, writing and speaking. It does a great job of covering the cyrillic alphabet and progresses you through the language into simple conversational situations. The interactive part of the book is a cool idea as you can hear how words are pronounced, but the implementation is poor. There is no way to slow down the pronunciation or to simply backup up to repeat a word. Instead, there is only a volume control on screen and a repeat...but it repeats from the very beginning of the audio. All in all, its a good book with an i imagine a ton of work went in to making it. One star deduction for the audio control features.

Other books are better
The books is good. My biggest issue was I couldn't figure out how the audio worked. I couldn't find where to go for it. It's literally like a little website thing on outside label

Five stars. Easily.
Quite a few typos - or rather display issues in Kindle, I suppose it is. A somewhat too fast audio voices for the beginner - otherwise probably the best of the best. Say I - who have screened through quite a few other books and courses about learning the Ukrainian language.

Seems OK, but not hardback and no CD included, just online audio
Really can't be that difficult to market this accurately. Why say it's hardback when it's paperback? Why say there's a CD when it's online audio? But seems like a decent book, and I'm not going to quibble given I want to learn basic Ukrainian right now. I speak Russian and am, as of 24th February, on 'Russian-speaking' strike. I'm unashamedly using that knowledge to fast track my Ukrainian.

OK but product headline says includes CD. No CD included, audio online
The headline product listing says includes CD. No CD included. You have to download the app onto phone or tablet for audio online. I went for this because I thought there would be a CD with the book which I find easier to put on than having to pair a phone or tablet (assuming I have battery left) to my speaker system.I think the book is rather pricey for what you get without a CD. Also a few printing mistakes which could throw a learner off course. As with most language courses the audio is too fast with little or no repetition and not enough time to repeat what has been said.

A comprehensive text
Although this book is very comprehensive, I think that it would have been improved by including pronunciation guides as well as translations, at least in the earlier chapters, and use of the accompanying CD is therefore a necessity. I was surprised that the lessons move quickly on to explanations of Ukrainian grammar quite early in the book, but it seems necessary to learn these aspects if one is to understand how the language works and to progress further. In my opinion one needs a lot of time and much patience to progress through the book, but in the end it will be well worth the effort.
