Great light & fan. Instructions might be difficult for some.
Great price. Easy to replace my existing broken exhaust fan from attic side of ceiling. Used triple switch to wire lights and fan individually. Wiring instructions are vague on how exhaust fan thermostat works so separating them might be difficult for those unfamiliar with electrical. So, if you can't figure it out, you probably shouldn't be fooling with wiring anyway. Also, the plastic damper door on exhaust is very flimsy, mine broke when I tried to put it back together after it fell out while in the attic with low light. I should have taken my time to reinstall door because I had to modify the broken door to fit upside down which took a couple of hours. The lights and fan work great once installed correctly. The unit I bought was used/new/open and slightly bent, but easy to straighten. Happy with outcome.

Perfect to warm up the area outside a walk-in shower.
These are low profile and work well.

NOT the same as the old one, but a good unit
Despite what many here have claimed this product is not the same unit as the older versions. You can not simply switch fans, for example. The old units had two screws holding the blower unit in place, one on the top of the housing and one on the side beneath the blower itself. The new one has them both on the side, meaning you can not take the new one out and install it into your old fixture. Orientation of the external components has changed as well, the vent discharge chute faces a different direction and the electrical hookup is in a different location. If your wiring doesn't have a lot of slack, or if rigid vent pipe was used you will have to replace the wiring or the vent pipe, or both. Additionally, while the same approximate width, the new unit is well over an inch longer than the older units, requiring additional cutting of the ceiling if the unit is replacing an old one. That being said, the unit works as described. Installation, while not easy, is not overly difficult. If you have access to the space above the room where the unit is being installed you can complete a new installation with no need for drywall or plaster repair. The fan is fairly quiet once installed, about what I'd expect from a unit in this price range. It can be wired in numerous ways to give complete control over the individual lights and the fan, and by installing different bulbs you can use it as a light, a heater, or both. Two things to note:1. There is no template provided, you will have to make your own to more easily facilitate marking the ceiling where you need to cut. I recommend drilling a small hole in the ceiling (from the attic above), centered between the joists, then centering your own template on that mark.2. The instructions claim there is a protective cover to be used when plastering around the unit, this cover is supposedly marked on the box and instructions are supposedly on the box as well. Neither existed. It is possible they were an extra piece of packaging, the unit I received was previously opened so I can't say with certainty that I received everything that was supposed to be in the box.

Perfect for starter homes
These lights are not at all whisper quiet- but they work and look good, which is perfect for our starter home. We're military so we can't invest too much for a house that we will probably have to move out of after a few years. It took my husband a weekend to install them, but they are so worth it.I honestly could not believe Amazon sells these kits for this price. The big box stores easily sold them for twice the price.I do take time and effort to write my reviews. If this helped you in any way, please click “YES” on the bottom. Thank you.

is ok, doesn't really heat 6x8 room well insulated
is ok, just cannot find light bulbs that get hot enough, so will go back to space heater, the vent runs wheneverstuck because too expensive to remove buy ceiling heat reinstall etc

Nice and warm even on a higher ceiling
Replaced a weak fan that was over the toilet, went up into the attic to stabilize & separated switches for fan/heat. Smooth fan sound and made a big temperature difference while soaking in our tub. Gives a warm glow output that’s not too bright, great buy!

Wiring help
This is for the Model 164 with two lights. The installation instructions are for new construction only. I made a cardboard template to cut out a hole in the ceiling. The wiring was a bit confusing at first. Here are the wire identifications: Red: one of the lights, Black: the other light, Yellow: heat? (this was confusing since the heat comes from the lights), Blue: exhaust fan. With two 250 watt red/infrared bulbs you get adequate heat. I don't think the single bulb would be enough.

Same great design..after all these years... with a few updates.
I originally bought this for parts to swap out with my older NuTone 9427p, but unfortunately, the cover is not supplied with the older V-type springs. The older style cover, NuTone S89260000, is available but I only found it for $85 on Amazon. The fan motor does appear however to be an easy swap if you have the old mounting bracket. The bulb mounts in the newer unit appear to be better quality, so if you can figure out how to swap those too, it will keep the bulbs from flopping around as much.
