Q: Which one is better: french or english one?

This really depends on the type of fragrance you like. English lavender flower (Lavandula angustifolia) has a more grey-blue color and a sweet, soft lavender-mint fragrance. It is the most commonly grown lavender in North America and has a different aroma from French lavender flower - Lavandula Dentata, also called fringes lavender, the evergreen shrub is native to Eastern and Southern Spain and derives its name from the toothed (dentate) leaves, which have a richly and aromatic lavender-rosemary scent. So in term of fragrance, it is a personal preference. But English lavender is more commonly used in sachets. French lavender has beautiful ultra blue color. I hope this information helps!

Q: I hear deer don't like this smell, has any one used it to protect your outdoor plants?

I planted lavender in the Texas Hill Country where there are plenty of deer and they eat whatever they like. They do not touch my lavender and it is simply beautiful. It does attract lots of butterflies and hummingbirds too!

Q: Is this natural scent?

I am not 100% sure but it smells natural to me. I am using these to keep critters out of stored and seasonal clothes; I can tell you when I take the clothes out of storage they have a slight lavender scent and smell absolutely amazing. To me it is a natural, non-perfume smell. It is slightly strong smell in package but I love lavender and find this smell very pleasant.

Q: Can I add lavender oil to sachets to extend its life?

That a perfect solution to recycle to extend the life of the sachet. As the lavender dries up it seems that the lavender oil is the perfect moisturizer for the sachet. I would be very careful not to put too much to avoid overspill. I have tried this and it seems to work. Just my opinion...no scientific background. Just a hunch that works for me.
