Does it remove all minerals (even the good ones)?

Some people have a misconception that the Reverse Osmosis process removes ALL minerals from water. AquaTru removes about 90% of minerals, but not all of them. Most North Americans prefer water with a low TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) rating. We leave the option to add minerals open to the individual. Some people prefer low mineral water since it has the “cleanest” taste. If we automatically put minerals back in, we would be removing this option for those people. Both options are available according to individual preference. People who are concerned about the low mineral content of filtered, purified water, add a few drops of mineral solution to their filtered water. Many holistic medical practitioners, including Dr. Marc Hyman, consider AquaTru to be the best source of pure healthy water. When it comes to the broader topic of health, there is always a diversity of opinions. Ultimately each person needs to choose what’s right for them and whose opinion to follow. We appreciate that there is not one single solution that meets everyone’s personal preferences.

Is the Tritan plastic this product is made out of produce estrogenic activity? Does the filtration process remove plastics from the water?

Thank you for your interest in our water purifier. AquaTru uses Tritan plastic, the same BPA & BPS free plastic used in best-selling food blenders like Nutri Bullet and Vitamix. Tritan has been tested at universities and independent third-party labs and the results have overwhelmingly demonstrated that it is safe and free of estrogenic and androgenic activity. If you prefer to avoid all plastics, you can simply transfer the purified water into a glass pitcher after the filtering process. Yes, AquaTru filters micro-plastics. A reverse osmosis filter, as used in AquaTru, has a pore size of approximately 0.0001 microns, so micro-plastic particles are easily captured. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

do you have to plug it in? does it make noise?

Thank you for your interest in our water purifier. Yes, AquaTru requires electricity. The power of AquaTru to filter out so many contaminants comes from its high-powered pump. It is not just a simple gravity-feed filter. AquaTru uses a carbon block pre-filter, an RO membrane, and a VOC filter. The water is fed through the filters by a high-pressure 80 PSI internal pump. Using high-pressure water makes it possible to use filters with much smaller water paths to push the water through the filter. This way AquaTru can capture many more contaminants. It would be impossible to get any water through the AquaTru filters with gravity alone. AquaTru is not loud at all. When it is filtering water, it makes a sound that lets you know it's working, but it is not an obtrusive sound...just kind of hums along doing its work.
