Pretty hard material to make gaskets from, but worked. I thought they were more of paper structure. Fast service, came when promised.

I was replacing my water pump in my old 2001 Montero and I needed a gasket that didn't come in the water pump kit that I had ordered. This gasket paper saved my bacon. I was able to trace the shape onto the paper and cut it out with an Xacto knife. I used some RTV silicone with it and so far I've made it one oil change worth of driving with no issues. I have plenty of this stuff left over for when I'll inevitably need more. Save yourself the trouble of trying to find the exact gasket and the wild goose chase it can potentially be and just make your own. Definitely a worthwhile investment to keep some of this stuff on hand if you work on cars regularly.

My son's 2000 Dodge Stratus recently needed a replacement thermostat housing and thermostat per our mechanic. We located the thermostat and housing as needed, but the mechanic insisted we also needed a gasket to o.plete the replacement repairs.Nobody had the gasket in stock. That's when I learned that sheets of gasket making materials are available for vintage and older cars to make your own custom gasket. Granted, most thermostat housings use a blue silicone material.We traced the diamond shaped portion of the thermostat housing onto a piece of copy paper to make a gasket template. This enabled us to get the shape and cutouts in the right places on inexpensive paper prior to using good gasket sheets to cut our custom gasket.It fit the spot. We also used a blue silicone sealant that needs 24 hours to cure and applied it to both sides of the gasket prior to the install. We cleaned the point of contact on the engine carefully after removing the old thermostat head and thermostat. The pressure from tightening the 2 bolts helped spread out the silicone and the thermostat's rubber seal to ensure a seal.We're keeping the spare sheets on hand to replace other gaskets as needed.

I bought this to make a gasket for my axle. I thought it was going to be more like the traditional felt, automotive gasket. It’s actually more of a rubber. I still works for what I need.
