Videos on Firefox get garbled :(
It took me some time to set up this brand-new workstation laptop.I was shocked and very annoyed when videos started to get garbled in fine mosaic patterns on Amazon and YouTube. After searched around for solutions, I found a YouTube video showing how to fix screen flickering of this ThinkPad P1 Gen 7. I tried it, but it didn't solve my problem although I still keep my WiFi Power Transmission level "Medium." (As for the screen flickering per se, my machine doesn't have that issue at all.)Then, when I played the same videos on Chrome instead of my usual Firefox, they played no problem!!!Besides, all the sudden, YouTube got super slow on Firefox, for which some speculate G*+g/^e's scheming behind it, I read.At any rate, I started using Chrome and now all videos play as expected.I tried the HDR mode, which gave me astounding images! But upon unplugging the power cord, the screen blacks out and switches to the non-HDR mode. And vice versa. When it happened for the first time, I was shocked and worried that something bad happened to the screen. It's not good for my mental health.Otherwise, this laptop has been wonderful. It's nice I don't have to worry about running out of the system RAM and storage. It's the first time I use a ThinkPad, so it took me some time to get used to it, but I'm getting easier.I haven't fully experimented with its AI capabilities yet.If I were to use AI, that would be for language processing and image generation.Hope it will work comfortably for the next five years or so. We'll see.

Very Nice Laptop
Bought mine direct from Lenovo via a corporate discount program.Pros: Fast, powerful, runs Linux well, nice screen, and easily connects with my Thunderbolt 4 dock (monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam). Did a lot of the initial set up with it on my lap while the family watched TV and it never got very hot or lost too much battery life. Also, it has an open M2 slot, so if you want to add another M2 drive for more storage, you can. Seriously, though, 2TB is a lot.Cons: Can't power/charge it from the dock's power delivery, so I have to connect the dock and the power supply instead of just one when I want to use it at my desk with my monitor and keyboard.Updates were a BEAR. Booted it, Windows did the first boot rigamarole where it claimed it was downloading updates, then finally let me have access to the desktop. I checked Windows Update... 60 updates to download. And then, after that, 24H2. Expect to spend a couple of hours getting it set up.Caveats: The 185H in it is being "replaced" by the 285H in Intel's line-up and the Nvidia 50xx mobile graphics cards are on the horizon with more RAM so this is a couple months from being "previous generation hardware." That's fine with me, but some people may want to hold out and wait.
