Super tall gate but works well
If you’re looking for a tall gate, look no further. I’m 5’ 10” and this gate goes past my upper thigh as you can see from the photo. This gate is extremely tall and is great to stop a toddler in its tract. Listen, this gate will even stop an adult in its tract. When I climb over this gate I feel like I’m back in high school doing hurdles again. This time miserably. This gate will tear you up if you’re not careful going over it. You will fall. You will stumble. Everyone will laugh. BUT your toddler will look at it and realize they don’t want the same results happening to them. This gate is a gorgeous deep brown and looks way more expensive than those cheap tan gates. It’s a bit more difficult to figure out how to open and close it though. The black pads will stain your wall. I’m not reducing a star for this though because this gate does its job and it does it well. I highly recommend this gate but please know that if you attempt to climb it you will get hurt

secure, affordable and tall
Absolutely love this gate. It worked for my toddler as the kitchen had two entries and now I plan to purchase it for our second child for a doorway. Very sturdy as he constantly tried to push it down. 👌🏾Highly recommend and excited I found it again to purchase.

Work well
We have an older gate, same model but different color. We purchased 2 new ones to keep our new puppy out of bedrooms. These work great and are pretty simple to operate. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because the new gates seem a bit wonky in movement due to the wood. The older gate is just smooth and easy. Slightly lower quality on the new gate, but only difference is the wood. The dark wood is lighter and “cheaper” feeling.

Who designed this lock!? (EvenFlo and Northstates are a waste of money!)
Beautiful gate as far as attractiveness goes. Useless to me at this point because I cannot get the stupid slide lock to work! Every other baby gate in the entire land that I have ever owned has had a simple clip that snaps into place on the lower bar. Not this thing. It has some ridiculous (plastic!) piece-o' that does not move no matter what I do! If I can ever get the thing installed, I will never be able to take it down again! What bureaucrat got involved in designing this monstrosity?! I'm going to have to return this thing -- which will eat up yet more time, energy and money that I don't have -- to get one with a regular clip lock instead! Stupid waste of time.Update: 1-14-20After I exchanged this ridiculous evenflow baby gate, I ordered a North states baby gate. For whatever reason, the north states baby gate does not show up in my product reviews. However, if you were considering a North State baby gate run the other way! They’re cheap and they break. Even though they have the right locking mechanism and not that stupid surround one, the little plastic sliders that hold the gate together are ridiculous. If the gate tips over, they snap in half and the gate becomes useless. I have had this gate for less than seven months and it’s already useless. If you have cats, do not use this gate. If they knock the gate over out of the doorway (which will happen because it is so flimsy it does not fit snug), when the gate hits the ground the plastic tabs break off. Ridiculous waste of money! Quality is really shot in all these gates these days!

A full 4 ft opening was a bridge too far.
I’m sure this wound be a good product for tje right application. For my needs it was a bit flimsy and cumbersome., hence the 3 stars.

Nice looking pet gate
I’m using this gate to keep my cat from going upstairs while my granddaughter is sleeping in my loft. Because of the trim, it had to be installed higher than I would have liked but I plan to stuff a towel or pool noodle underneath. I was happy to find a gate that was wide enough for the opening. I was planning on getting an expensive handmade gate but I realized I would have installation issues with that as well. This gate was hundreds of dollars cheaper, looks nice, and will do the job.

Works For Us...
I got this because a 6 month (or so) old cat decided I needed to rescue her. I got this because it was tall enough so she couldn't jump over it at that age. Now that she can clear it without a thought, the training I was hoping for when she was young has resulted. She knows she "ustacould not" jump over it, so now she doesn't try. Mission accomplished. (In all respect to how well behaved she is? I do not want her in a room with guitars on stands, amplifiers, keyboards, you get the idea.) So, I'm very happy with how this gate has served my purpose (it was more of a conditioning tool when she was young than accomplishing anything other than "Oh, I tried and tried and tried and I can't jump that" in the back of her mind now.). I'm not going to type "Mission Accomplished" because the minute I do? All bets are off. After all...She's A Cat!! (I type that with the utmost affection. All cat owners know...Cat's have humans...or Cat's have Humans as Staff. Not the other way around.)
