Great for testing purposes
This is a great product to use if you want to test the true brightness of things. I used it to test whether the new car bulbs I bought were true to advertisement and it got me my money back on them! Would recommend

Good value with a couple of quirks
The media could not be loaded. As a photographer I have never owned a light meter and have always dialed in my exposure using tethered tools but for the purpose or reviewing lights and also in an attempt to be quicker setting up, I thought its about time I try one. This is a relatively basic light meter with some slightly confusing additional features. Yes, it measures light, but also temperature and humidity. I don't know why but il just say that you can measure temperature in centigrade or Fahrenheit and then move on.- The head swivels which is more useful that I expected so I can take a reading but not getting in the way of the light.- Light can be measured in Lux or Footcandles. No f-stops unfortunately- The min / max function is useful to measure and display a peak or trough output. I have found this especially useful when working with flash photography because the duration is too short for you to actually see the reading without it.- Setup is easy and they give you the 3x AAA batteries you need but why they screw the battery cover closed instead of clipping it shut is beyond my comprehension** Summary **A useful addition to my bag with the only down sides being the lack of F-stop readout and a battery cover that requires a screwdriver to access. Very decent value for money.

Works well with useful functions.
Build is utilitarian; it's made of hard plastic plastic, with screws holding it all together. The orange side panels are exactly the same hard plastic as the rest; I wouldn't describe them as 'anti slide' as the listing does. The screen is slightly recessed, and is plastic (I think), and the sensor is has a cover when not in use. The battery compartment is accessed through a screw panel. Overall it looks to be fairly rugged, appropriately designed and built for the task in hand. The light sensor is an inch or so diameter curved white dome recessed in the top of the device. The whole top, from just above the screen, can rotate through 6 stops 180 degrees. There are also vents either side front and back allowing measurement of temperature and relative humidity. The 5 buttons on the front are:On/Off - self explanatory:H/* - performs two functions; short press holds the reading, a long press toggles the backlight'C/'F - toggles temperature unitsUNIT - toggles LUX and FCMAX/MIN - toggles recording the maximum or minimum values, or long press turn the function off.A couple of notes on usage;1) H(old) doesn't hold temperature or humidity readings, only light readings.2) the unit will remember the units you have selected the next time you turn it on.3) there is an auto off function; this will prevent you from leaving it for an extended period to record max/min readings. Finally it's worth mentioning that the manual is well written in good English (and many other languages), and contains some useful information.

Great light meter
This is a nifty and easy to use light meter.Using the meter is really easy. Take the protective cap off, turn it on and hold it in the area you need to measure the light levels in. It is that easy. The meter will give you readings in Lux (or foot candles for those who dont like SI units). While it is reading the light levels, it is also showing temperature and humidity too. Being able to measure light levels, temperature and humidity, its a great device for checking your work environment is suitable and comfortable without having to subject people to it first. The controls on the front of the device are straightforward, and either accessed through short or long presses. For example, you can hold a reading with a short press of the H button, and then short press it again to release it (a useful button if you need to show a reading or need time to note it down). Long pressing the same button activates the backlight on the display. The min and max button when active stores the highest and lowest light readings on the device, and a long press of the button clears the mode. For me, with the help of this meter I soon realised that most of the time my computer desk setup is way too dark and I needed to address my lighting situation at my computer. I installed more lighting and my computer area is much more comfortable to use.Overall, this is a great tool for measuring light levels, temperature and humidity, and following on from that making sure that your work or hobby areas are comfortable to use. I think its fantastic.

TopTes TS-710 Light Meter First Impressions
I received the TopTes TS-710 Light Meter yesterday and unboxed this morning. It comes with Operation Manual and a Protective Cover for Sensor. The buttons were fairly intuitive so I switched to Lux to test it out. The back-lighting is also nice and I like the rotating sensor. I placed my phone with Light Sensor App next to this dedicated sensor and pointed in same direction. My phone light sensor would jump around while the TopTes settled into a reading. I then tested a couple LED bulbs with the TopTes and it worked great. My ultimate test is to measure my LED lights strung around my pool enclosure because neighbor complained so I put them on a Dimmer but want to obtain some Foot-Candle Measurements.Update: I've measured the Foot-Candles at my Property boundary (next to my Neighbor) and it measured 0.3 Foot-Candles with No LED Dimming and 0.1 Foot-Candles with LED Dimmer set to 50%. The Florida Statutes aren't very clear in this area but I did see mention of 0.2 Foot-Candles maximum at the Property boundary so I'm now compliant and will leave my Dimmer set to 50%. I also used the TopTest TS-710 Light Meter to gauge the Lumens for each 1 Watt LED bulb; at full intensity (no Dimming), they were spec'ed at 80 Lumens. I measured 82 Lux (Lumens) straight out but this fell off going towards top and bottom of bulbs. Hence, the actual Luminosity of these 1W LED Bulbs is probably more on the order of 40-60 Lumens (a measure of total light emitted in a sphere around the bulb). Great Light Meter and very pleased.
