D'Addario Auto-Trim Tuning Machines - Locking Tuners for Guitars - 6 In Line Setup, Black

I love these tuners.Having fitted them to other guitars I find it strange using standard tuners. They are solidly made, easy to fit and work well in service. Very neat touch is the automatic trimming of the string, although could be difficult to replace string if needed to remove for other than renewal, as trims very close to post. Never had that need so not sure if it is possible? I have used others from well known instrument brand manufacturers but find these equally as good, if not better. Should point out the sets I have are fitted to Line 6 Variax guitars and the critical dimensions and screw placement is identical to the originals.

great ratio per turn , easy to install, superb looks and quality, and make string changing a breeze, which is the greatest thing for a live musician who just wants to take 1 guitar (easier to keep an eye on!). .. very good stability too , it cuts as you turn ,.. so if there was any slippage of strings you'd soon know about it haha! .. but they don't slip. so don't worry... there WAS an issue not long after their release , with the piston on the thinnest 'e' string not grabbing on a 9 gauge, (and possibly a 10) .. but this was addressed a couple of years ago now. .. i've fitted quite a few sets now, and ALL are still going strong, as are mine which have been in constant use for 5 years now and have been brilliant!

Bought these for an Ibanez RG421HPAM and they fit the hole perfectly. I used a rotary tool to make small guide holes for the screws and found a very useful video on a popular video website to ensure the machine heads are perfectly aligned.The auto trim feature is nice, I did wonder what happens if it stops working but I guess you would just trim the string as normal. They are holding tune really well but to be honest the guitar held tune well before, but being lazy I wanted the locking tuners for easier string changing.I recommend them and will be getting another set for another Ibanez come pay day.

I put a set of these on my Squier Contemporary Telecaster, and has improved the tuning stability by loads. And the auto string clipping/trimming feature is cool too, which apart from actually installing them to your guitar, you don't need any tools to change strings and to clip the excess string off. Would definitely recommend these, not only for if you want some locking tuners on your already decent guitar, but also if you're like me and want to upgrade the lower end tuners on your slightly cheeper guitar. Also they're good quality too.

The screws provided with these tuners are of such poor quality that I had to stop fitting the tuners halfway through due to every single screw head snapping off whilst being screwed in (even with guidance holes drilled to reduce the friction on the screws). The screws and tuners now cannot be removed without damaging the guitar. I will now have to find and buy additional screws of the exact same measurements if I am to finish fitting the tuners. Changing the machine heads should be an easy 10 minute job, but the poor quality of the material provided means that I would advise people to choose an alternative product. Other reviews show the same problem, so this is not a one-off.
