Can i pipe a compressor directly into this tank? In other words can this replace an old rusted tank?

Yes. You can attach an air line directly to the tank, by shopping for the size fittings and pipe supply that it will require, at a hardware store. However, if you want to mount the pump itself directly to the tank, you will need to weld two platforms onto the tank, to hold the pump and the electric motor. The tank can be pumped up to 175lbs of pressure.

I first purchased one unit and connected it to my dewalt air compressor for added air. i purchased another unit too. how do i connect everything?

I would connect it in a series, so that Dewalt is linked to #1 tank which is then linked to #2 tank. Note that you can move around the fittings. I would do it like the above : AC=Air Compressor, S1=Storage tank 1, S2=Storage Tank2; |AC|\|S1|/|S2|--air line out.
