Kids love them! Have bought multiple times
We have purchased these trains a few times! They work really well, are reliable, simple to use (just one big button that goes forwards, middle for stop, or backwards), last longer than other ones we've tried, and are good value for money! Very impressed! They go at a good speed with new batteries, and becomes slower as the batteries become worn out, but that's fine! They go backwards and forwards, and can pull many carriages, including uphill. They work on tracks and across floors. The kids love them and so do I! Wonderful electric trains!

Lovely little strong train
Lovely little train, easily manageable by a 2.5 year old to switch on and off or switch between forward and reverse. Hours of fun. No toot toot sound though but that didn’t bother us - the light was more exciting.

Son loves this, works well with a range of other sets
Excellent little train, with a nice light on it which our 2 year old enjoys. Slider a little difficult for that age however, so we find he prefers to play with the alternative "brave little engine" instead which just has a push button. But - good build quality, nice to have a metal frame, and able to get up ramped track with ease.

Steady and always stays the distance!
SOUNDHape is SLOW and steady, has never derailed or got stuck and can pull a couple of carriages. It is SILENT so that's good if you like peace and quiet but bad for kids who like sound.SPEEDSlow, but steady. This is a very slow train but it's battery life is good so it slows down less than other trains if the batteries are low.CONTROLS (movement switch)Hape has a slightly awkward switch, that my 2 year old doesn't understand and it's difficult to stop the train without putting it into reverse. The good thing is, it has a reverse!SOUND and LIGHTSHas the brightest light but no sound.STABILITYHape is the most stable tarin by far!PULLING CARRIAGESNot great at pulling carriages... two maximum up hills.HILLSPretty good up all hills, does get stuck temporarily on a brio hump bridge when it's batteries are a little low but eventually gets up it.TUNNELSHape is definitely the smallest, therefore best in tunnels and never gets stuck.BATTERY CHANGEHape is easy to change battery - the reason I have this category is that the bigjigs mighty red is so hard to open it makes the experience a real pain - but not with Hape, which has a sensible easy open screw section.CONCLUSIONHape is a great little train, a bit boring because no sound and slow but it's steady and always stays the distance!

Well designed train with excellent pulling power
10 times better than the first electric train I bought for my 3 year old.Two main points:1) It can pull a lot of carriages - the Ikea one managed 1 or 2 at best, this can pull 7 (actually may be more, as 7 is all we have!)2) It has a slip clutch so if your toddler stops it from running or manually pushes it the motor is not forced, this should mean it's tolerant to damage. The Ikea version lacks this.

Impressed
This was a great buy for my grandson. Good build quality and should survive plenty of play. It's very sturdy and has a good weight to it. He prefers it to the brio engine I also bought. Great value for the money.

Robust
Very robust unlike some other trains I purchased that break so easily. Toddler loves it

Battery operated train
The media could not be loaded. Good made and goes on generic train tracks. Was a Christmas present and my son loves it. Doesn’t make noise as said in the picture only light up. We bought as though the light and the noise would make it a nice experience for my son but only lights up. Also the button is not really good and true ing it on or of as get easily get stuck or it’s flimsy to move back and forward to change directions
