Hi there this type yes you can, I would recommend 1 part sand with this as it will drain a lot better for the venus. So 1part sand 2 parts the moss. I have found this type of moss is perfect for draining, the sand will act as a stopper to ensure all the water will not disappear. I hope this has helped.
