Q: is this sulphate free ?

Sulphate = a salt of sulphuric acid. I have no idea and I would think the only people who could answer this question with any authority are the manufacturers.

Q: Can this be used for men's (medium length to short length) hairstyling, or is this specifically just for women?

As it is not perfumed I would think it would be fine I personally will not use anything else as it is not tacky on your hair and brushes out completely leaving hair soft and natural

Yes, this is the best and strongest hairspray I have ever found. I have very fine hair and would not be without this spray.
