Q: do you mix it with water?

You can, but you have to shake it really well. It doesn't mix well with water however. It depends on the type of salicylic acid you purchase. They do sell differbt tyoes such as crystal salicylic and powder form. The crystals mix better with water. I would personally add it to a water based lotion or ointment and also mixing ingredients depend on what part of the body you are using it on. For my eyelid, I mix with an ointment, foe face I mix usually with just an oil, such as coconut or olive or some higher end oils. One other ingredient I use is silver drops, which mixed with salicylic acid works almost before my eyes and feels really good , almost like I can feel the healing working immediately. I am VERY much a make it myself kind of person , after graduating my 1st cosmetology school in 1988 and even more so since attending others, and of course trial and error. I keep on hand ointments, lotions and make lots of potions that sell behind the pharmacy counter, it's a great way to stay away from those ugly additives. If you want to search "lotions and potions", on Google, there is an article published years ago by a doctor with some amazing recipes for things that include what your asking. The title of the paper is "lotions and potions ", and I'd inhad access to my document file i would attach it, I just don't have the time right now.
