Just what I needed
I live in an area that I would describe winter as cool to chilly most of the time (average daytime temps in the 40's-50s) and I tend to get warm very easily so a coat is often too heavy if I'm doing any kind of activity outside. I decided a vest might just be what I need! Went back and forth for months on different types/brands. Considered Carhartt but honestly didn't want to spend that kind of money on a vest. I needed something durable so I didn't have to worry about snagging or ripping when I'm working in it as well as something with a little insulation because, hey, it is still winter after all! Coming originally from a cold northern climate where most of my jobs were outside/construction Carhartt was always my go to so I just decided to stop trying to find "something better" and get this vest-Very happy I did! The fleece lining is very comfortable and warm (it's even in the side pockets which is nice), has plenty of pockets and basically does just what I had hoped/expected it would do. I got the Sandstone color and am happy with that too. I've had, and still have, several pieces of Carhartt outerwear and have never been unhappy. Sizing is the same as the coats. I wear an XL Carhartt coat so I got the XL vest and the fit is perfect. Now I can work comfortably and have the benefit of less bulk without coat sleeves. I would definitely recommend!

Treat yourself to this vest!
This is a GREAT vest and I couldn't find it anywhere locally. SO glad I ordered it! Perfect for us guys who need freedom in the arms while keeping the trunk area toasty. The lining is like "hugging your wife in her pajamas" soft, and the pockets have the same soft material on the inside. Even the 2 interior pockets are lined on one side so you don't have to worry about scratching an ULTRA sized Kimber that fits perfectly in the left inner pocket. The right inner pocket is a little bit wider. An iPhone 6 is a little tight getting in and out of the front breast pocket but it works, and it's a handy zippered storage space for money, your fishing license, or valuables. If you want the best durable clothing available for work and rugged play, get over the sizing issues and buy nothing but Carhartt. Go to your local store(s), figure out what sizes work for you and order with complete confidence. You get what you pay for as long as you stick with the duck material. BTW, Carhartt duck DOES shrink slowly, most notably in the pants, (cause they get washed the most), but taking them out of the dryer and hanging them on a hook before they're too dried out is the key to a long and useful fit-life.

Best Workclothes In the World
As a long time Carhartt fan, I had always admired the Sherpa vest but could never find it in my size. This work vest is cut in such a way that you have complete freedom of movement through the shoulder and waist while the longer tail covers your waistband in case your work pants tend to dip a little when weighted down. The medium fits me very well as a lean 6' guy with a 40 or 41' chest. If you're worried about the waist being too tight, let me assure you, I wear mine over several layers with my pants at my waist (instead of hanging off my butt) and while it's close to the body (Safety first guys!), it's not restrictive. The sherpa lining is warm and soft against the neck. It layers very well, and in Sandstone I've found it to be a pretty stylish, rugged option with work pants and a long sleeve button-up when I go to make bids or just with nice jeans and a Henley to go run errands or down to my local pub.If I had to find fault in this vest, I do wish the front hand pockets were just a touch taller but my Cordless drill (Rhymes with "default") fits well enough that I can park it there to climb a ladder or whatever. Also, the front chest "map pocket" is outside the lining so in VERY cold weather I don't recommend you put your smartphone there. As for the seller, the item arrived exactly as described with no extraneous packaging and right on time. Great piece of workwear at a competitive price.

Built tough.
I purchased this vest for its loose fit for layering. It has a map pocket on the left chest with a zipper closure and two inside pockets. It also has two large Sherpa-lined front pockets. As a bonus for concealed discreet carry, it is long enough to cover whether you choose OWB or IWB carry. These vests are now stylish and commonplace in urban or rural areas. For people who carry concealed every day, this vest lets you fly under the radar, unlike those with multiple pockets made for concealed carry that advertise novice to the trained eye.

It's a nice vest but...
Three points: 1) The fit of the waist. I ordered the medium; I am 5'7",150 lb with a 32" waist. The Medium Vest waistline is actually a 36 and with a four inch gap it'll will be kinda breezy this winter. 2) The zipper is solid but difficult to start because of the overlapping material. It also definitely needs greased because the action is rough. 3) I'm also not too crazy about the fleece lining on the inside-front of the pockets. I understand that it's supposed to help against the wind sheer but it's a little awkward and not what I want from a pocket. Other than that it's what you'd expect from Carharrt- durable materials and a good look but I'll likely be returning the vest due mainly to the breezy gap at the waist.
