The ERKXD hair dryer bag is indeed only large enough for a travel size hair dryer--I bought this bag and do like it for my travel hair dryer. However, I bought a larger bag for my Dry Bar Single Shot Brush style hair dryer from Amazon. I bought the Emiko cotton black hair dryer bag that says "Love Your Hair". Depends on the size and design of your gym bag and how much you are already putting in your gym bag whether it will fit in your gym bag....it can be assumed by the dimensions (12 x 12 inches) it would fit by itself easily in most gym bags. If you are asking if the material in the bag is water resistant -- it is not, it is made of cotton so if you put something wet up against it in your gym bag, the bag will absorb water.
