Fantastic coffee, and fun to use once you get everything dialed in
Simple, low cost, durable, and effective. What more could you ask for? I typically brew my coffee in Bonavita BV1900 auto pour over machine, but occasionally I'll break out this Melitta if my wife is gone and I only need to make a single cup at a time. This is a great pour over cone for those who don't want to master the skills needed for more complex cones like the V60, but still want that signature pour over coffee flavor. Because the Melitta is single hole brewer, you don't need to fuss with pour techniques as the grounds will be completely saturated in water during the brewing process. You simply start with a bloom pour, wait 20-30 seconds, then keep adding water, maintaining the water level just slightly above the grounds bed while the brewer drains into the cup... once you've added ~380 grams of water, stop pouring water and you're done. Try and aim for a total brew time of around 2:45 - 3 minutes by adjusting the grind size to either slow down or speed up the flow of the water through the grounds. Once you have your grinder dialed in, you don't have to worry about that step for future pour overs. Easy!Even though I have one of the best auto pour over machines on the market (Bonavita BV1900), this Melitta cone produces a slightly better cup of coffee. In actuality, the coffee brewed from both devices is excellent, but the brew from the Melitta is cleaner, slightly more well-rounded, and slightly more complex.Excellent product! Highly recommended.

Heavy but Versatile
I have been using Melitta cones and filters for forty years. All my cones are plastic but I loved the rich smooth coffee I made with them. I decided to move away from plastic, so I bought this Porcelain cone. After several days and multiple brews, I have to say it is excellent. I am able to make a deeply rich mug of coffee without bitterness, just like I like it.For those who have used the plastic cones like I have over the years, you have to get used to the increased weight of this porcelain cone. It's solid as a rock and cleans up perfectly in the dishwasher. The size of this porcelain Melitta cone (model #64101) is what makes it versatile. It's sold as a #2 filter cone but it will easily handle the #4 filters as well. I can make a great single mug with the #2 filter, then put a #4 filter in it and brew up twice as much to use in a carafe. (The #4 filter will clear the top of the cone by 3/4 inch but has the same taper as the #2 so it fits perfectly -- in spite of the fact that the cone is a little shorter than the #4 filter, there is plenty of capacity for making 4 cups of coffee.)To sum up, if you love coffee made with Melitta cones but want to move up from plastic, this porcelain unit is an excellent choice. If you haven't made coffee with a Melitta pour over brewer and want to try it, you can't go wrong with this cone -- but should you want to be cautious before you pay the price of this porcelain cone, the plastic ones are so inexpensive you wouldn't lose much trying one of them first.

Easy to use
My original Melita coffee pot broke and so I was just left with the plastic top, which sort of worked, but wasn’t very sturdy. This ceramic one works great. It sits snuggly on top of my coffee cup and I make my 2 cups of coffee into my cup and then throw the paper filter away. I use a number two Melita coffee filter, coffee is delicious

the base is too narrow
the base to sit on top of the cup is a little too shallow.

They don't make 'um like they used to.
This is the second Melita cone brewer that I have owned. Bought this one as a replacement for an older one that unfortunately fell off my counter. The first thing I noticed was that this newer version was much lighter and seemed to be of lower quality manufacturing. Sure enough, after only a few weeks of use, the bottom area shown in the photos cracked off simply while being placed in the kitchen sink. Also, the glazing job as others have mentioned is not great. You can see in the photo that not only was the glaze poorly applied, but they even allowed this one to pass quality control with the poor molding job showing the large wrinkle in the ceramic.Performance wise, it brews coffee perfectly, just not sure if I will be purchasing another one due to the poor manufacturing quality.

Pretty BUT fragile. It is very heavy and any short drop will break it
Pretty BUT fragile. It is very heavy and any short drop will break it. I bought a second one because the first got broken within a week of starting to use it. The other thing to remember is that the heavy porcelain needs to be preheated before the filter and coffee are put in. We love it but it is so easy to break we are going to get a plastic one for emergencies.
