Tefal Stainless Steel Ingenio Steamer + Glass Lid Black

So.... the Ingenio cookware sets, while being otherwise excellent, do not come with a lid for the steamer as they only include the 16/18/20cm lid set. And in fact, there is no way to purchase a 24cm Ingenio lid on its own.But, it's a steamer. So it's fairly natural to purchase another Tefal Ingenio steamer, with the included 24cm lid, and I figured that a pair of steamers lets me steam several types of vegetables, and creates a nice flexible addition for my Ingenio set.But no, that wasn't to be. It seems that with this steamer Tefal have invented a steamer for a 22cm pan that requires a 24cm lid, and that means that not only did my original set not include a lid for my steamer, but it also means that THESE STEAMERS ARE NOT STACKABLE.Who on earth heard of non-stackable steamers? If you search amazon for steamers, the first three pages of results are full of stackable steamer sets.My new steamer is being returned today as it's totally impractical, I'll be looking for a standard set of 22cm steamers to use with my Ingenio pans instead, and once those arrive the weird 22/24cm hybrid steamer that I already have from Tefal will be going straight in the recycling bin.

I have the Tefal Ingenio range and in general, I'm happy with the pans. However, I'm really confused as to how this steamer has managed to get 5 stars - the lid is designed in such a way that there are two gaps on either side, one for the pan handle to sit in, and the other... well I'm not sure what the other one's for... perhaps to allow steam to escape? Either way, both gaps are way too large and allow too much steam to escape - it therefore takes much longer than usual to steam veg (e.g. a good 15 minutes to steam broccoli). If in doubt google this product and you will see lower ratings elsewhere. Anyway, I have given up using it and am going to buy a new induction steamer plan (outside of the Ingenio range).

Awesome addition to my ingenio range. Tried using a colander over a pan and just didn’t get the right levels of steam. This fits like a glove on our Sauté pan and the lid is a useful addition as it also fits the wok. If you have invested in this Tefal range this is a really useful addition. Made some very tasty Bao buns on our first attempt using this. Highly recommended.

A great addition to the Ingenio range. I needed a steamer as my family likes a lot of steamed oriental dishes and this is big enough for four to five persons. I like the fact that it can sit on top of the shallower pans, instead of the usual large deep pans + steamer combined pots you have to buy and have nowhere to store them. Sits snug with the other pans and the lid is useful not just with the steamer.

I bought this item 13 months ago and it is an excellent steamer. Shame then that the metal disc at the bottom of the butterfly lid handle is made of a ferrous material and not stainless steel because it has rusted. (See photo). I'm sending it back at Tefal's UK agent's request. Perhaps this manufacturing fault has been rectified in the meantime. Hope so.
