Great Tool
I cannot attest to the extreme accuracy of this tool but I think it is. Regardless it works extremely well for comparison purposes of different .30 cal barrels. In gauging a new rifle it shows no wear, used but accurate rifle it shows very little wear and on some used unknown accuracy rifles for sale, it shows different amounts of wear. Some of which deserve no further evaluation. I take it with me whenever I look at used rifles.

Great value for the price
I had been thinking of buying a muzzle gauge for some time, but was put off by the price on some devices. When I saw this one, I thought what could I lose. When I got mine, using a quality micrometer, I checked this device, and I was pleasantly surprised. Now a valued addition to my bench tools. As the prices of collectable pieces are going up, having both a throat erosion and muzzle gauge in hand, checking pieces during deliberations makes more sense than ever.

Works, seems accurate, nice small size
Seems to be accurate, matched several rifles to what CMP claimed they were, at least fairly close (I have no idea how they measure a 0.8 vs a 1.2?) But this is a great tool to quickly check a rifle with a .30 bore for excessive muzzle wear. Small enough to stick in a pocket and not notice

Excellent tool. Well machined and very easy to use
Excellent tool. Well machined and very easy to use. Instantly provides an accurate read on the size of the barrel tip bore. I just used this tool to check the bore on two old Springfield 03 rifles date from 1909 and 1911. One showed the bore tip to be within reasonable tolerance while the other rifle clearly showed severe erosion/wear. If you collect vintage 30 caliber military rifles, this tool is a must have to ensure that the rifles you would like to purchase have exit bore dimensions that are acceptable and allow you to accurately identify those that do not.

... Fulton Armory 0 - 2 gauge and it works fine, but wanted something I could relate more easily ...
I have the old Fulton Armory 0 - 2 gauge and it works fine, but wanted something I could relate more easily to. I like the laser etched bore diameter numbers. I have three total now - one for each gun type tool kit I have.

Not perfectly true
first let me say I like its small size and is always handy.the reason I didn't rate it higher is because it isn't truly round.it varies where the lettering is burned or engraved in +/- .0005 up to .001 you have to wiggle it in so the lettering is not on the rifling. and still its always .0005 -.001 less than a CMP guage. Is that because his guage has been in 20,000 barrels? Maybe

Simply great little tool for measuring muzzle wear for .30 cal firearms
This was exactly what I was looking for, my one small criticism is it comes with no directions on which end to insert into the muzzle and how to read it. I did a little online research and you hold the .30 marked and slide the other end into the muzzle. It measures in half increments and you read whichever flat interval it stops at. I enjoy shooting surplus rifles and this tool really helps separate the wheat from the chaff come buying time. The only downside for me is now I know what the muzzle wear really is, I have one less excuse for crappy groupings.
