I’m a swim instructor and spend anywhere from 3-5 hours in the water on a daily basis. Most our pools are about 88 degrees and none of them have on site showers. I drive about 13-30 minutes until I can get to a shower. Aqua guard and I have a love hate relationship. The first time I used this I put it in like 2 minutes before I got in the pool and slathered it on. It smelled amazing and did stay in my hair all through the shift. But when it came time to shower it wouldn’t come out. It stayed in my hair making it crunchy and super tangled. I don’t like to give up on products so I did some research and experimentation and here’s what I found.1. It doesn’t matter if it goes in your hair wet or dry. 2. Put it on like 5 minutes before going in the pool. That gives it time to absorb 3. Think of it like a top coat for your hair you want enough for it to coat it but not enough that you see super thick deposits in your hair. 4. You HAVE to use a special chlorine removing shampoo to get it out (I tried a normal clarifying shampoo and it failed so look for swim specific I buy a 3 in 1 product and it works great although sometimes I do have to wash 2 times) 5. If you have warm water it’s best to rise your hair in that right after swimming and try not to let it dry in your hair or sit in it for a long time. ( I will say that I can actually let it sit in my hair for a bit like 1-2 hours if I rinse my hair in super warm sink water before leaving)Following all the above rules it works beautifully my hair is the softest it’s ever been and while there is some chlorine damage from my failed uses I haven’t seen any damage beyond that. I even had some curls one day. I usually braid my hair and due to being an instructor and working with kids I don’t wear a swim cap and I’m really happy with the condition of my hair. Plus it smells so good for everyone wondering the smell is a sweet almond smell due to the almond oil in it. I just ran out (this sized bottle lasted me about a month) and have the huge bottle on the way

I feel like I won the grand prize! 6 full-sized- full-sized- bottles of fabulous Aqua Guard products for $51. I had already been using the pre-swim conditioner and absolutely love it. So many products promise this, that, and the other and don't really make much difference. But Aqua Guard products do their job. For reference my hair is thick, wavy/curly, blonde/white and I regularly (twice/month) use colored conditioner to keep my hair toned, not brassy. I use heat. My hair tends to be dry, but is healthy overall, and I want it to stay that way. I do pool aerobics and swim four times/week, I'm in California so in the pool, sun, wind year-round. Aqua Guard products are the blessing that helps keep my hair and skin healthy. All are very lightly and pleasantly scented, I've had no problems with pumps or bottles and consistency of all products I've used is really nice. Reef safe, no animal testing. I'm delighted with Aqua Guard products and bet you will be, too!

Though I don't have a clear way to prove that, I really felt I was able to swim several days in a week and this product was helping me to protect my hair before getting into the pool, like creating a cape of protection to avoid the chlorine affecting that much while swimming

I’ve been using this on my daughter’s hair before she goes into the pool (about 3x a week in a chlorinated pool). It looks kind of greasy when you put it on dry hair but it keeps her hair very soft amd protects it from the chlorine and it doesn’t leave a residue after washing with shampoo. Will repurchase all summer!

I used it one time. My hair was still tangled after I got done swimming. I still had to use a detangler to get the tangles out. After I washed my hair my hair was soft. I don't know if it was the product or my shampoo and conditioner. I'll keep using it to see over time if my hair stays healthy.

I have noticed a difference after getting out of the ocean water. My hair is not as dry and stiff, instead it is manageable and easier to wash. I've only used it three times. I might go through the bottle faster than I thought.

I bought this for my daughter who is on a swim team. Not sure it did much, if anything it seemed to just built up on her hair and didn’t wash out well. She wears a swim cap, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference. Smell is great and the value for the money is good. Might work better if you wear it without a swim cap?

This is my second year using this product…….from the same bottle! It smells like summer to me. I slather it on my hair before hopping into the pool and it don’t need to worry about my color treated hair.
