Q: Are these made in the USA?

Staedtler is a worldwide corporation having at least nine manufacturing plants including four in Germany so this is a difficult wuestion to answer.

Q: What's the difference between this (780c) and other 2mm Staedtler lead holders? Which is best for drawing?

There's no difference in drawing, maybe a different lead, but this is merely lead holders with a sharpener on the end. As for comfort they're great and it's nice to have multiple pencils for multiple leads at once and then you can sharpen on the other pencils, just handy, but a normal sharpener is best

Q: What size led comes with the set? mine are all marked hb. i will keep them if i can adjust the indicators to the correct lead size/type?

The lead size is 2 mm. The hardness is all the same for the set. I bought other hardness leads to put in the pencils for variety. I didn't see any hardness indicators on the pencil itself. I used a Sharpie to mark what lead I put in each one. Not pretty, but it works.
