Hello Dominique, thank you for your question. Our Breastmilk Collector can passively collect up to four ounces of breast milk that flows from your breast when you nurse or pump on the opposite one. As long as you can comfortably attach the collector to your breast, your nipple contacting the silicone should not affect the way the collector works. Q: Can milk be extracted alone?

Hi Amazon Customer. Thanks for your question. The Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector can be used when mom is breastfeeding, single pumping, or by itself. The Breastmilk Collector creates a gentle suction when squeezed and placed on the center of the breast that triggers a let-down reflex. However, the Breastmilk Collector is not a manual pump and we suggest using a Lansinoh Manual Pump or Double Electric Breast Pump for more frequent pumping sessions.

Q: How secure is the lid? Say, if I needed to place this in a bag, carry from office to vehicle then go home before transferring the milk, will it spill?

No. Lid is not secure. But don't let that deter you! I prefer this to my Hakaa 150%. I'd just carry a bottle to pour it into, like a medela bottle.
