MicroBEADS? No. MicroPLASTICS? Probably, yes. Polysorbate 20 is what is considered a "skeptical microplastic" - it's a synthetic polymer for which there isn't enough information about to draw conclusions about potential harm to the environment. Some studies say to avoid it, but it's not outright banned. For what it's worth, this also contains microcrystalline wax, which isn't plastic, but does not biodegrade. I'm not an environmental scientist, but the amount of non-dissolving artificially colored beads this stuff left in my shower was enough to convince me not to buy it again. Do your research and make your own decisions, but I recommend checking out the Beat the Micro Bead website whenever you have questions about product ingredients.
