XPOL-1-5G 4x4 Antenna

Q: I have a Three ntwrk 5G router (zyxel nr5103e) with 4 antenna connections. these are not labelled. could you advise, which antenna lead goes where?

If you have a 4x4 mini antenna, the cables will be separated into pairs. Simply ensure the first pair is connected to either the top two connectors or the bottom two connectors and then attach the other cables to the remaining connectors.

Q: Qould it work ok if only cables are plugged in or would it lose speed?

I'm guessing you mean, if only 2 cables are plugged in. In which case it will work fine. The cables are labelled so be sure to use the right pair. Additionally you can split the 4 leads and run 2 routers from it. Maximum signal strength for 5G is when you use a router with the 4 connectors but it will work fine with just 2 connections which is the set up I use.

Q: This says 3dbi but other cheaper 5gs aerials say they do 10 dbpi. Is a lower number boost faster, and is 3dpbi perfect for faster 5g upload speeds?

The dBi refers to the gain of an antenna, and ultimately gain affects how focused the connection is. For example, a directional antenna will have an high dBi as the signal coverage will be more focused and will need to be pointed more directly at the nearest cell tower to achieve any kind of connection. Whereas since this is an omni-directional antenna it has a low dBi gain as it covers a wider more circular area and will connect to the best signal around it without the need to be pointed in any given direction. In terms of speeds and the such, dBi only affects your performance in terms of if you know where your nearest cell tower and/or if you can get line of sight, otherwise this antenna is more than suitable for improving 5g upload speeds.

This product is only supplied with 4 x 5m cables terminated with SMA plug fittings. Although 5m siamese extension cables are available to purchase separately we would not recommend this given the peak gain provided by this antenna and the signal losses you will incure from using an extension cable and connections.
