I had seen this belt in a retail store recently and was impressed looking at it compared to all the other brands around it, carhartt, levis, browning and more that they sold there. I wouldn't have ever thought to myself that Columbia was a company that produced a great belt so I was fairly surprised when I checked it out and felt it was the nicest belt on the rack.The other main reason I wanted this is because I learned the hard way that a black dyed belt can indeed rub off on your jeans and stain them. This belt however has a nice natural leather back that doesn't look like it will transfer onto your jeans. I am referring to the Dark Brown version which I purchased, that's my old belt next to it in the photo which has lasted me many years now.

This belt’s thick leather makes it feel solid and durable. At the same time it looks good and feels good. The size information was pretty accurate for me. It won’t hurt to have some neatsfoot oil on hand to give it a coat every so often to keep the leather supple.

The stitching adds strength to slow down the leather from stretching out over time. Especially important for those of us who need a little bit of extra pressure on the belt to hold the pants up!

My husband bought this same belt in brown four years ago, and it still looks great. There is no breaking surface along the edges or around the buckle holes. Very well made! If ever needed, I will get him another black and brown belt again. Worth every penny.

Fit for purpose

I have bought the same belt for the past 10 years or so from Columbia and the quality has gone to zero! They stopped using real leather and now use some sort of synthetic leather that smells like chemicals and continues to smell even after weeks of use and soaking it in hot soapy water. Nothing is getting this factory chemical smell out of it. Its horrible and I'm mad I even bought it. I thought the smell would go away but it hasnt and its past my return window or I would be returning this
