Experience the heroic action and unforgettable adventures of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. See the first fateful steps in the journey of Anakin Skywalker. Stranded on the desert planet Tatooine after rescuing young Queen Amidala from the impending invasion of Naboo, Jedi apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn discover nine-year-old Anakin, a young slave unusually strong in the Force. Anakin wins a thrilling Podrace and with it his freedom as he leaves his home to be trained as a Jedi. Better with age
As someone who grew up on the original trilogy I HATED the Phantom Menace when it came out but I've warmed to it a little now. Yes Jar Jar is still *"'&£+; annoying but there are plenty of great scenes and characters (some duff ones too) but overall it's better than I gave it credit for when it first came out.

Episode 1
Jedi Knights Qui Gon Jin and Obi Wan Kenobi meet a young boy, Anakin Skywalker. The first in the Star Wars prequel trilogy has got better over the years as I have slowly warmed to it. Jar Jar Binks is still one of the most annoying characters in cinema history and Jake Llyod is still one of the worst ever child actors with some cringeable dialogue but has a lot of action highlights include the pod race and lightsaber dual between Qui Gon Jin, Obi Wan Kenobi and villain Darth Maul while there are good performances from Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor pretty much saving the movie as Qui Gon Jin and Obi Wan Kenobi, Natalie Portman, Samuel L Jackson and Ian McDiarmid who practically screams villain whenever he's on screen as the future Emperor. Still the weakest film in the saga but also still good fun.

How it all began
This was a great story the best Sci Fi set of 6 films. I love star wars from when I first went to the Cinema back in 1977 to start seeing the 1st trilogy & this was the start of the 2nd trilogy bringing it up to date to show how it all came together. I love it.

Great Star Wars Film with twist in the tale
I love Starwars and will always watch them. I prefer the original 1970s trilogy as it was the set I grew up with, but that said, I still enjoy re-watching all 9 films. The Phantom Menace is good at setting the scene for the next 2 films with the edgyness of who is the Phantom Menace aka The Dark emergence in the force......

3/4 what it was
Having owned this when it was first released- I expected the same box and liner notes- it doesn’t have those. Same discs tho. The filmIs excellent- I got dvd rather that blu ray as I wanted the puppet yoda- in subsequent blu rays they have changed to a digital yoda. Great film- very underrated coz of the hype.
