A very good unit for a very good price
This is a very nice weather station. Once you get it set up the way you want it, it performs well. It has almost all the features that I wanted, and they all work as advertised. The temperature readings are accurate, as is the barometric pressure (see below). I never pay much attention to the humidity readings, as those sensors are subject to all sorts of variations (However, after many months of ownership, I find that the humidity readings are helpful, if not perfectly accurate). The only negative that I can think of is that it is not possible to set the clock to the 24-hour format. I like to use the 24-hour format, even though I'm in the USA, but for most users this would not be an issue. Here are some other things that potential buyers might want to know:1) Setting up most of the features is not particularly difficult, but manually setting up the barometric pressure is a bit of a challenge. Many people won't care about that, but I do. I wanted to set it to the reading at our local airport, and it took me about 15 minutes to get it right. The procedure is addressed in the manual, but it could be explained a little more clearly. (The unit does have a 14-day "learning period" during which, I assume, it's supposed to eventually automatically detect the barometric pressure. I neither wanted to wait, nor did I trust this feature to get it right, so I switched from "automatic" to "manual" to set it myself.)2) The display is very clear and colorful IF IT IS BELOW EYE LEVEL. The more it is above eye level, the more washed out it will be. In other words, you want to place this weather station where you will be looking down at it.3) It is unrealistic to expect devices like this to actually forecast the weather. This is tough enough for supercomputers to accomplish. If you want a real weather forecast, go to a weather website or watch the Weather Channel.4) While the literature never explicitly says so, I believe that the time-date function is tuned to the National Bureau of Standards atomic clock [after months of ownership, I have concluded that this is not so; the clock runs just a little bit fast and has to be manually reset]. There is a separate button battery to power this function, which is why the time and date are correct right out of the box. Of course, you do have to set the time zone and whether or not daylight saving time is used in your area.5) The product information clearly says that this unit is designed to be plugged in. Do not expect it to be otherwise. The batteries are only for back-up in case of a power failure. Be sure to put in the three AAs so you don't lose all your settings if the power goes out or you have to unplug the unit.6) Read the manual.

Simple, Accurate, Easy to Read
I really like the horizontal display of this model. The auto dim is a really nice feature. Display is clear, easy to read and as far as I can tell, very accurate. Replaced my more complicated 5 in 1 Accurite that had rainfall and windspeed but often gave me trouble. Simplicity of this unit is much appreciated.

Nice weather station
Easy to read but screen goes to a dark setting on its own and you can not see it from a distance. Tried changing settings but didn't fix the problem

AcuRite is Right!
Works like a charm! ! The quality of this smaller sized device is great. We tried less expensive brands and ALL 5 had to be replaced and or returned. Delivery to our remote location arrived in one day!!!! Definitely recommend! Thank You!!!!

Our favorite weather station!
Favorite weather station! Sometimes instead of showing the actual temperature though, it shows the heat index. But it's still our favorite!!! It has everything you could ever want on there it's so cool, you can even adjust the screen so that it automatically dims in the evenings..

Beware of reading angle
Overall I really like the weather station. It has the information on it I wanted and the colors are eye-catching. I like the medium size. The only negative is the required viewing angle. I have been having trouble finding a place to put it because you can only read it easily from directly in front, slightly above and not too far away. That means you have to walk over to see the info rather than glance across the room.

Great little sensor
I purchased this to upgrade from an older model that the outdoor sensor was lost. I just love it! My old one was black and white and this is in color and lights up which is really cool. I also bought the cover for the outdoor sensor and if you do remember that it is the temp in the shade. You do have to plug this in but it has backup batteries (not included.) I really like the look of it and it's smaller than my old one so I put it on my nightstand. It has a setting for brightness level and it can be set up to dim during the night. I looked at it for a while and got it on sale which was a bonus. I would definitely recommend it.

Not Dependable
I really wanted to like this weather station, but it’s been more frustrating than useful. The outdoor sensor is often inaccurate, with temperature readings that are several degrees off compared to other reliable thermometers. The connection between the sensor and the display also drops frequently, which makes it unreliable for tracking outdoor conditions. The monitor will say that its raining outside when it's a clear sunny day or it will show a clear sunny day and will be cloudy and raining. The color display looks nice at first, but it’s hard to read unless you’re directly in front of it, and the backlight is either too dim or way too bright for a dark room. After only a few months of use, the unit already feels inconsistent and cheaply made. I understand that its not a high dollar weather station but I expected it to be somewhat accurate. This product does not live up to its promise of dependable home weather monitoring. I had higher expectations from the Accurite brand but was really disappointed. I would not recommend it if you’re looking for accuracy or long-term reliability. It is not dependable at all and your better off just looking out the window or save your money and get a better quality weather station.
