Much cheaper than purchasing LG brand filter
The filter was easy to install and seems to be working just fine, water dispensing from door and ice is producing, so it seems compatible. Much cheaper than purchasing LG brand filter.

PERFECT MATCH AT REASONABLE PRICE !!
PERFECT MATCH FOR MY LG REFRIGARATOR/FREEZER THAT REQUIRES CHANGING THESE FILTERS AT AN SUGGESTED 6 MONTH PERIOD BUT NOW FOR A MUCH, MUCH LOWER PRICE THAN WHEN PURCHASING THESE DIRECTLY FROM LG AT OVER-INFLATED PRICES !! My refrigerator/freezer, a counter depth model Max Zero # LF24Z6530S /00 suggests 2.5 gallons of flushing when a new filter is installed, and my water tastes pretty fresh. I CAN'T however attest to any types of differences/impurities still left from before against after application of this filter against the use of an original LG filter or even against just plain water, since I have no special equipment to do that. A personal taste test is all I can go by and that's reasonably enough.

Better than expected!
Long story, see update below: After reading the horror stories of installation issues with LG, I decided to check out about a half dozen other brands. Seems like same story from everyone. Looking at the photos, it sort of looks like the inner nozzle portion comes in two major styles, one is bridged across and the ice pure style which is very close in appearance to the oem filter has a couple of small molded in pronges that may be for adding rigidity or to match various other brands. Having used ice pure for an old kitchenaid with very good results, I decided this was my best option for the new LG. I’m thrilled! My wife is thrilled! The world is good again! The original filter came with the LG only 4 months ago, but just recently the water went bad - so bad it was unfathomable, like every plastic solvent was suddenly being released. I ordered the new filter last night and it was delivered just a short time ago. The installation headaches appear to have been addressed and ice pure includes a plastic tool to rotate the inner fitting to proper orientation. I watched the video and a few others just to be certain. The Ice pure video shows the filter receptacle removed from the refrigerator for clarity but that can be confusing to some if their placement in the fridge is different. Ours is in the door behind a bin and does look different than the one displayed in the video. The key is the notch of the external bayonet mount vs the orientation of the inner fitting notches. Our fitting looked fine after removing the old filter and it stayed in that position, it did not rotate on its own, maybe due to being fairly new. But to my dismay, Ifound the installer never actually twisted the filter to lock it in and it was never actually engaged or filtering. Anyway, I put the tool in to be certain, but it did not rotate so it is definite that our fitting was in correct position. I installed this new ice pure filter with no issues, rotated smoothly and locked into position. First couple of glassfuls were the typical airy gray, not unusual. I purged a few more as air was being displaced and then purged a couple more to be certain. Still some air but it disappears quickly and now the water tastes great. It’s actually tasting better than with the oem filter. See update below!I won’t hesitate to order more of these going forward. I never bother to test for TDS from these filters. They are not designed to remove minerals. For the most part the calcium and magnesium carbonates that make up the majority of the TDS are naturally occurring and contribute to “hardness” depending on where you live and water sources, that hardness can vary significantly with some high hardness levels well over 300. If you need to lower hardness for a coffee maker or whatever, get a zerowater filter or a RO system. For organic and chlorinated substances, these charcoal filters do fine for removal leaving the minerals that are normally not harmful. Also remember trapped air can cloud the water for a while so give it some time and don’t be concerned unless the cloudiness does not dissipate within a reasonable amount of time. Anyway, I’ve been a long time user of ice pure and I see no reason to switch. I’d recommend them to anyone.Update: water had a bad taste upon first use of the fridge water after install 4 mo ago, but it cleared up and tasted fine until just recently which we assume was a spent filter. But when we found the installer never fully attached the water filter and it’s been unfiltered all this time, then why suddenly does it taste so plastics like? This new filter tasted ok only for a short time and then it too started to taste terrible. A call to LG for warranty service was next. After a bit of back and forth, we traced the problem to the wrong type of supply tubing provided by the installer. It was a braided stainless over a pvc liner. But these flexible lines are not NSF approved for drinking water, these are meant for utility uses like toilet connections. Flexible PVC has plasticizer additives that allow it to be flexible. Some also have a flexible synthetic rubber over a thin pvc liner. If the pvc fails, water is contained by the rubber. The braided stainless only protects the inner tubing from abrasion and can improve the working pressure since the tubing can’t swell and burst as easily. Note that the pvc liners are not the same as the pvc piping you might have for cold water lines, or cpvc for hot water lines.LG recommends PEX or copper (all mfg’s may as well). PEX is a plastic (it is cross linked polyethylene which is a tough, durable version of PE) and the drinking water tubing is NSF approved. Most newer homes now use PEX. I used PEX when I installed a new well pump and new supply piping at my former house over 10 yrs ago, so it’s got a long history of safety by now. Moving on… We ran over to the local HD and noticed PEX was the only tubing they offer in store for the ice maker replacement water supplies. We only needed 4 ft but 8 ft was all they had, I installed the new tubing in 5 min, left it coiled behind the fridge, purged the fridge, dumped the old ice and all is good. Water taste is great again.FWIW, we got no idea why orig supply tubing tasted bad to start, cleared up for months then started tasting bad again. It could well be due to the installer using the cheapest tubing they could get their hands on to save a few dollars per install, and it could be just by luck or lack of luck whether the inner liner will taste ok or not. The LG agent’s suspicion is that the pvc cracked or split away from the ferrule inside allowing water to contact a synthetic rubber middle layer.
