MADE IN USA.
My father was Polish and got his PhD in engineering from England. He brought over to the states certain tools. Maybe since they were made 60 years ago, the craftsmanship and quality of the materials were superior. I’ve wanted to order on line such tools but skeptical of there quality. No more. VERY pleased on the finish, the way the tools slide on the ruler. I read on another review about the quality of the case. I know for them to have everything spot on is disappointing but I bought this tool set for what they delivered. Value for the money? Absolutely! My father once told me, “you can’t do the job right without the right tools”. I make wood turnings with angles and tolerances that are +- 1/1000”

I've checked all three heads every which way against each other and other non-adjustable squares and all the heads are perfect 90 or 45 degrees
To quote Mona Lisa Vito, this tool is dead on balls accurate. I've checked all three heads every which way against each other and other non-adjustable squares and all the heads are perfect 90 or 45 degrees. I returned a PEC because the protractor head was off by 1-1/2 degrees. I am happy to say this protractor head is much better quality and dead on. At 90 degrees, I can scribe lines that are right on top of each other when reversing the square on the work. The graduations are etched (vs a riveted on scale on the PEC) and the zeros are finer. The adjustment thumbscrews also ride on the rotating head much more nicely. I bought too many "squares" that are not. Having one I can trust is great.

Love this set.
I use this to make sure all my other tools are accurate. It's handier than a shirt pocket. It's a bit pricey... The case clasp broke the first day. I was a bit disappointed in that. I like keeping my tools in their cases and put away...

Quality
This Starrett set is high quality and priced very reasonable. The tools will last forever and just wish they still came in a nice wooden box instead of a plastic case.

HEIRLOOM QUALITY!
I waited much too long to purchase this Starrett four piece Combination Square. I was sure it would be dead on accurate and wasn’t a bit disappointed. Even splurged for the wooden case and there wasn’t a thing wrong with the case it came in. Guess as they say, “BETTER LATE THAN NEVER “. Maybe I’ll start saving for a Rolex Watch now. They are both heirloom quality products.

Great too.
I like the matte/satin surface and black letters. Easy to read. I have three other try squares in my shop. This one now gets most of the use. Only draw back is the price. Wow. But can't find a head to head, apples to apples comparison for a lesser price so I swallowed hard and bought it. I'd like a longer rule for it, but still balk at the $100 price for an 18 inch steel rule. Its good, but at some point just plain cost for value sets in and I can't justify spending more for the task.

Best square, Hands Down!!
Starrett is the gold standard when it comes to squares. They are always truly square. I had bought an off brand square only to find it wasn’t square. An inch high at 16in down the square.I decided to return the off brand and spend the money on a Starrett. Starrett square was dead on. It’s truly worth the money if you need your lines and measurements to be exact.

Storage Box is still junk.
After receiving this item a few days ago and having the box latch break as soon as I touched it, I decided to re-order hoping that the first one was a one off. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The second item was received and the box would not latch at all. At least it didn’t break but it seems kind of pointless to have the tool stored in a box that doesn't work. Once again, the tool was not removed from the box and the item will be returned to Amazon. I wont be considering another Starrett product. Starrett lists this box for $26.50 on their web site. Why not skip the box since it doesn't work anyway and cut the price by $26.50. Or perhaps the box is grossly overpriced in which case I am compelled to question if the same is not true of the tool itself.
