Works fine. You just have to be aware of when and how to use it, and how to interpret colors. The instructions weren't so clear, but when I researched the product I had looked at others with more specific instructions, so I knew the dos and don't of using it, and that different shades of color mean different things. It did not work well within ten minutes of when I came in from the outdoors, for example, but I knew right away that the reading was off because there was no way that my temperature was 95 or 96. So I put it aside and tried a little later, and it worked then.

Let me start by saying you have to be reasonable about what this product is. It is a $5 thermometer that requires no batteries, weighs virtually nothing, and takes up virtually no space. It appears to be accurate enough to tell you if someone is hypothermic, has a normal temperature, has a low grade fever, or has a high fever. Is it super easy to read? No. Is it super accurate? No, but I compared it to a mercury thermometer and two digital thermometers, and it was less than 1/2 a degree off. Be sure to remove the white paper backing that it ships with. Follow the instruction closely: Hold it in place "for at least one full minute". "Always read the highest temperature window indicated by color" (see photos). This is the perfect thermometer to have on hand when you are trying to travel light.

Had one like this when I was a kid. Great option when the little ones are fussy about an oral or otic thermometer. This is great to approximate a fever…so you can take care of them. The readings are accurate enough to make decisions about staying home from school or other activities.

I had a similar thermometer when my kids were little and just bought this one after going through about 4 digital thermometers whose batteries kept dying at the worst times. This is easy to use and is accurate and no batteries to worry about. I won't buy another digital thermometer again.

Should get no stars. It doesn't work at all. Nothing, zilch, no reading. The first time I needed it, nothing happened. Waste of money. Don't buy!

I ordered this thermometer to keep in my diaper bag and I really like it. I have a thermometer that you swipe across the forehead and read it digitally and I have an oral thermometer but I love having this for on the go or as a back to to confirm my digital. It's super small and weighs nothing so I can easily keep it in my bag (plus it comes with a carrying case to keep it protected). Another thing I like about this is the simplicity, you just put it on the forehead and get a reading almost instantly. My mom is not totally comfortable using the digital thermometer so this is something she can use without second guessing herself if she is alone with my little one. I compared this to my digital and it seems very accurate, you don't get an exact reading but it's going to be enough to let you know if your child has an elevated temperature. One day we were visiting family 2 hours from home and I noticed she felt warm, I didn't have a thermometer and neither did the home we were in so this would have been nice, sure enough when we got home she had a fever. For what I wanted I would give this 5 stars but if it's the only thing you are using I would give it about 4 since it's a bit harder to get an exact temp. It's a perfect back up or for on the go. I am very happy with this. I paid full price for this item.

These are great. Read true and do not break great for kids

I like that it's not some high-tech device that might not even work unless you spent $200.
