Nice smooth acrylic yarn in a lighter worsted weight
I purchased a number of colors of this yarn but did my test scarf in Cuyahoga Valley. It is a lovely deep teal color with touches of lighter teal running throughout. The overall effect is one of a very subtle tweed. The skein is 251 yards for five ounces of acrylic yarn. It states that it is a worsted weight 4. I've seen a lot of variance in worsted weight yarns and I would certainly call this one a lighter worsted weight. The skein suggest a J 10 (6mm) hook but I found that an H (5mm) worked best for me.I always test a new yarn by crocheting a standard scarf. That gives me the opportunity to experience the feel of the yarn and to compare it against other yarns that I have likewise tested. I use a half-double crochet as it gives a good body to the material and still leaves it soft enough for comfort. For this scarf, as I had a lot of yardage, I choose to do a chain 14 (two for a turning chain), turn, half double crochet in 12, chain two turn, and repeat until the scarf was 72 inches long. In most worsted weight scarves, my scarf is around 4 inches wide. With this yarn, it ended up 3 inches wide by 72 inches long with a considerable amount of yarn left over (which I could and may use to make a fringe for the scarf.)I liked the way the yarn felt in my hand. It was smooth and silky and the yarn pulled easily from the center. I didn't have any knots but I did have three spots where the yarn appeared slightly frayed. Those spots end well within my crochet but would have been apparent if I had knit with the skein. Because of the fraying, I would give this yarn a 4.5 stars if it were possible. As it is not, I round up (as always) to a 5.I like the yarn a lot and will be making a number of projects using it. I had hoped for a full worsted weight yarn for some Celtic-inspired projects but I don't think it is quite thick enough.

Subtle Color Variations Are Nice
Good quality and good color. For my project, I split the yarn in half to basically get two skiens. I like the subtle color variations of the Heartland line. I used a size 4.0 mm and 4.5 mm crochet hook for my projects with this yarn.

Nice yarn that I didn’t need but…
Soft, doesn’t separate and works up well defined stitches. Seems to wash and dry well without a lot of pilling. Rarely on sale, so I refilled my stash while it was.

lilac color
Pretty yarn. I'm new to knitting but a friend recommend this as a good acrylic yarn to start with and I agree. It's soft and easy to work with. I was a bit surprised by the color of wolf trap. There were two different pics so I thought it might be a more cream, off while color, maybe tan. But turns out it's a pinkish lavender color, kind of lilac. It's pretty, but more pastel pink/purple than what I was looking for, so something to be aware of for for the color. To me wolf trap does nothing to help figure out what a color is and the pics weren't helpful either. I also ordered acadia and really like the vanilla cream color of it, sharing in case you are looking for something along those lines.
