Good Bare Boned Kayak
I can't remember what the weight of the kayak is....but not too hard to carry short distances. I am 5'10" 180 pound male. But loading on top of my car is a little tough all by myself. My old Wilderness Systems Tarpon had side handles, which made carrying and loading easier. I will probably retrofit some side handles on mine soon. In general, this is a decent kayak for the price. Handles decent, and is fairly stable. I wish there were places to sit a drink, and maybe a little cubbies to put sunglasses, pocket knife, cell phone, and other miscellaneous stuff. But I will rig up something myself....it's just that my wilderness systems kayak had all this....but it was also a more expensive kayak. One thing I do not like about this kayak is that the rear storage hatch is not water proof. You better have everything on dry bags or you will regret it.

Great Buy
Definitely recommend as a first kayak. Picked this up at a local Walmart a year ago for ~$200; picked up a foam block and rope set for about ~35 so I could transport it home. The kayak handles great in the water, tracking and speed aren't anything special but do the trick, I travel somewhere around 2.5 mph on average. I'm 5'10", 175 lbs and the fit is right, I'd say it would fit people smaller well but not too much larger, max weight is 275 and if you get too close to that total (water inside the boat +gear + you) you do slow down substantially. The paddle needs drip rings that aren't included with the yak, so make sure to buy those or your hands and the kayak will get soaked. I've done 5 or so trips longer than 10mi with this kayak in wave heights >2ft and it handles like a tank, never been worried about its durability or safety in the water. After a year and over 100 miles, I'm replacing the seat cushion (which is all but destroyed) and the paddle, but I'll continue to use the kayak for another year, at which point i'll probably have put a hole through the bottom because I have to get in and out of the kayak at a rocky area (which is all the more reason not to get an expensive kayak if you know you're going to do damage to the hull).

Better than expected for the price
Great recreational kayak for floating in a small lake or down a calm river. Marginal for creeks or rougher water as the kayak is a bit of a "tank" in the water so maneuverability in tight spots isn't advised, although the boat does take on smalls white caps very well. Tracks well enough for what it is, and seems to be built to last many years with decent care. I fit in the boat nicely at 6'1 200lbs (only issue being that I'm slightly too big to use the cup holder built into the seat as I cover it up with my bum... LOL!). The seat itself, while nothing spectacular, is better than most kayaks in this price range. Particularly nice is how the seat's backrest comes up to the middle of the back, which is great for an all day trip. For what I paid at wallmart, it's better than expected to be honest, hence the 5 star rating. used it 15-20 times over the spring/summer and I have no complaintsEdit: After ~2 years of owning the Kayak, everything is going great... Just thought I'd come back to highlight the excellent customer service, as since purchase I've lost the foam float blocks that are inside the Kayak for extra buoyancy... Contacted Lifetime customer service and they're sending me replacements free of charge!! After 2 years and no proof of purchase!! How's that for customer service!!!!

Great starter kayak
Descent rec kayak. Stable and handles well on flat water and even a bit of whitecap. Like the features. Works well as a starter kayak.
