Do what they're supposed to do
I ordered these when one of the kitties developed an aural hematoma from shaking and scratching her head. This extremely sharp and pointy blade tip is perfect for CAREFULLY poking a hole in something that needs to drain. I used to use 18g and 20g needles to do this, but these scalpels work much better! The needles just make a hole - a hole that can close too quickly. This pointy scalpel tip makes a tiny cut, as opposed to a puncture (like the needles) so the opening stays open longer. And when you have a struggling kitty who wants nothing to do with you and your poking implements and your draining of something, that kind of opening tends to STAY open long enough to drain whatever needs draining, yet is small enough to close and heal up on its own. My recommendation, as far as using this to drain abscesses etc, in your pet: get someone to hold her while you do it! It'll save you some scratches (and possibly bites!) - as long as that person knows how to properly hold a struggling animal, that is.😾 If not, just take your pet to the vet and let THEM do it. This is also, a multi use item for husband's first aid kit. Remember one thing: these are EXTREMELY sharp!!! And the pointy tip makes them extra sharp. Actual surgeons use this type of blade while performing surgery, to make certain cuts. So you KNOW it has to cut thru flesh very quickly and easi!y. So make sure you KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN!!! They could quite easily lose a finger or worse very easily and very quickly before you even know what's happening. Diligence is the word here And the scalpels, of course, could always be less expensive...

Great product!
One of my cats had a staph infection, and I am well prepared to deal with these things, because I had been through it before with my child as well as myself when we got exposed to some bacteria in Florida years ago. I bought these scapels, alcohol, gloves, the works! Immediately, I noticed how well they were packaged, individually and they all had caps on them. The knife quality is far superior considering it is a disposable, and the bill quality is great. I would recommend cutting it out of the package instead of trying to remove it, because when I did the cap came off so these knife part was exposed. I probably did it wrong, I never follow directions lol. Having said that, it's got a grip that makes it very easy to hold and use with or without gloves, the blade was super thin and sharp so you don't have to press hard at all, mission accomplished. These are very easy to use, but I'd recommend getting some supervision if you have never worked with a scapel before. I actually had classes and surgical tech years ago so I know how to handle a scapel, but I was used to the weight of the industrial ones you see in hospitals. Having said that, these will do the trick. You get 10 of them in a pack, so it is a wonderful value. I think I paid more for the gloves than I did for these.

Skip The Salon Fee & Do Your Dermaplaning At Home!
This is a box of #10 scalpels, the same blade doctors use during routine surgeries, so the blades are Super Sharp! But if you have a steady hand & know how to be careful, you can use it on your face without cutting yourself. Dermaplaning isn't merely shaving your face. The scalpel exfoliates your skin while also removing all the facial peach fuzz, which leaves you with supremely smooth & soft skin. The trick is to keep the blade at a 20-25 degree angle, which you'll easily get the hang of. (You can find YT videos on dermaplaning with a #10 blade that will show you the proper angle.) Be sure to thoroughly clean your face & neck beforehand (I use Dickinson's Witch Hazel on a cotton pad) & pat your skin completely dry. Wipe off the blade with cotton pad dampened with alcohol as you go. (The 1st time you dermaplane, you'll be shocked at the amount of debris that accumulates on the scalpel!) When you've finished, rinse your face & neck with cool water, leave your skin damp & apply your best moisturizer. I wait at least an hour after dermaplaning before applying make-up. And you will absolutely LOVE the way your make-up glides on easily, blends effortlessly & looks flawless all day after dermaplaning! Clean the scalpel with alcohol after each use & replace the protective cover. I dermaplane roughly once a week & use each blade 3 times before tossing it out. Do NOT try this if you have active acne/break-outs, bug bites or spots of irritated skin. Otherwise, I promise you, you will LOVE the results from at-home dermaplaning vs. paying $75-150 for the same service at a fancy skin care salon.

Sharp and works great
I get these to dermaplane my face, and they work really well. They’re extremely sharp and glide smoothly, giving a clean, precise result every time. Definitely worth it!

Thought they’d be sharper
These are not very sharp!! Came packaged well and sterile and clean but they are not super sharp and dull quickly depending what you are using them for!
