Looks good
I just purchased this and haven't had a chance to use it yet. But I've used come alongs for years. To address some of the bad comments. A two ton vehicle being pulled from being stuck could need a whole lot more pull than 4 tons. Resistance of ground, gravity, suction from mud etc. When a come along is over worked you should be able to notice it while using it. Rewinding a come along after use is important that it's done under pressure. If you just rachet it up loosely then the next time you use it the cable will get Tangled up. I hook the cable to something and pull on it as I crank it in. Whether it can do 4 tons or not I don't know. It's probably more a rating of the cable than the mechanisms themselves. I can't see this lifting a 2 ton car off the ground. Anyone who claims any come along can, is crazy. But when I see it's overloaded by how it's not spooling correctly I learned the hard way, stop. Move to another angle or use two come alongs and alternate cranking it up between the two. I've ruined a few in my life time and I always see it's not working right. Impatience is what screws it up. Take it off, move it to another spot. When you see problems, repeat.

Works better and is stronger than rope!
I bought this tool so that I could tie down wood 4by8 panels to the back of my truck !

Excellent Quality and Ease of Use
I had a need for one of these and compared to other vendors this was priced really well. So far this wench has been great and handled the long spans of self supporting messenger and strands with ease. Great purchase and will definitely purchase more as needs arise.

Not happy! This product is junk! Inferior quality.
This product is junk. It is of inferior quality. It is roughly manufactured. Immediately upon opening the package and handling the winch I cut my finger on a spur. The winch is roughly manufactured and lacks features for easy operation. Purchase it at your own risk. I submitted a return within minutes of opening and handling the item. Do I need to say that I was VERY dissatisfied with the quality of the product?

Looks good!
I've only unboxes this product and inspected it. Looks good, seems functional. Bought it because the old one I had seems to have disappeared. Bought it because some logs I cut in the mill need manhandling and I'm a little old to do it without assistance. So, one of these days I'll be actually testing it out, but I'm impressed with the functionality.

Pulling the cable out
It sounds as though people are unaware how to release the cable to pull it out. This is how it's done: Slide the hook on the spring over 1/2" to the other side, and there you have it. Easy as pie! Otherwise haven't used it in order to give a proper review.

Cheap, short, bad.
First of all, this cost the same as the Harbor freight come along with twice the weight capacity and extra length, so I will be comparing the two.Between the two, this is VERY thin metal, the mechanism to release the gear keeps misaligning, and there is a super ultra thin piece of metal on a spring that you slide to use it, so that's pretty annoying especially if you're trying to unload something slowly using this come along. Just buy the Harbor Freight one. It's way better and saved me when I tried to use this hunk of garbage. Also, the line is very short. Probably only 8 feet, despite advertising more.

Caveat Emptor on this one
This device comes with NO directions on how to use it nor was I able to find a website that may have had a user manual. While connecting straps and engaging the devise was intuitive disengaging the device definitely not intuitive!Very frustrating. The housing is also cheaply made and even without enormous amounts of pressure began to show strain on the device!I would not buy again.
