Italia-Annette
Well, you know that I will never give anything less than 5 Stars to any project that includes Annette Funicello, especially now that she is no longer with us.This is a little comedy-drama that takes us on location to Florence, Italy where Annette plays an Italian girl named.. Annette! She is an art student studying in Florence. One day, a clumsy American, played by Tommy Kirk, knocks her down with his Vespa and she is less than charmed by him. Tommy, however, is quite taken with Annette. He finds a compact that she has dropped and tracks her down. Soon, the two become aware of an art-theft ring...If we were talking about Cary Grant and Sophia Loren directed by Alfred Hitchcock, we would probably have a Cinema Classic here, still, it's a fun cute little family movie, something that's hard to find anymore. There are lots of sight gags and the Italian and English actors are quite capable.Annette, at about age 21, is gorgeous, with an hourglass figure, flashing brown eyes and shoulder length dark hair. Her clothing is conservative, form-fitting and all the while still stylish for 1962.Annette sings her hit "Dream Boy". Nino Castelnuovo sings "Bella, Bella Florence" and the company (including Annette) even sing an aria.Somebody make a pizza and sit back and enjoy this Disney classic

SWEET WHOLESOME ANNETTE
saw this on WALT DISNEY'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR'' TV SHOW on sunday nites. i was about 13 and smitten with ANNETTE. but let's be realistic, this is for ANNETTE fans. a silly film of constant hectic running around. can't tell if filmed in ITALY or characters overdubbed in ITALY filming. but in between we get to see ANNETTE sing some cute tunes. a story of art thievery in background to chases thru the streets of ITALY. beautiful color and beautiful ANNETTE. that's all you need to know. wish more of todays actresses had her wholesomeness and sense of decency. miss her greatly. media constantly hypes stars who die from drugs and lead immoral lives, but someone like ANNETTE, aexcellent role model for young girls goes virtually unnoticed by media. sad world we live in. will always love ANNETTE.

Movie 100%, but no additional material (trailers/commentary/clips etc) at all.
Was a favourite movie from my childhood, back when you had to catch it on TV - no recordings, few repeats. I loved it.RIP Annette Funicello!!Very hard to come by, so the expense was worth it!

Suitable for children and young adults.
Tommy Kirk was annoying as the uppity young American. Annette Funicello held up her end, but the native Italian singers left her in the shade. The plot was silly, but when I saw this almost sixty years ago, I didn't mind that. The sociological point about the Florentines' identity as Florentines first and Italians second was something that I failed to understand as a child.

Fun Movie
OK, it's not Gone with the Wind and they didn't "remaster" it for Blu-ray... but it's the best print of the story to be available in decades. Violence is pure Disney (she drops the drapes on a bad guy before hitting him over the head with a large book). But the songs are pure Annette. Tommy Kirk does a good job, but Bruno (Nino Castelnuovo) should have ended up with Annette! Sweet story, good mystery (for Disney). Family Fun...Highly recommended for any Disney fan, double that for Annette fans!

Light-hearted fun towatch for nostalgia
Typical 1960s Disney-esque teen flick. Light-hearted fun to watch for nostalgia. It's clean and adventurous, if a bit dated. Might be fun for middle school and young teens who haven't already been corrupted by the sex and alcohol teen movies of today.

Excellent Disney Movie
Excellent Disney movie. But It seems to be edited because it was originally a two part World of Disney TV show. So it should have been about 95 minutes in length if you allow for commercials. But it still holds up very well as a movie.
