Should be subtitled: Everything Except How to Play
I am a true beginner. My friend and I bought a set, thought we "kind of" knew how the pieces moved, and played a game. Obviously, it was chaos but we had fun and I couldn't wait to get a book and learn how to play. This is not the right book for a novice like me. Yes, I learned how to set up the board and how the pieces moved but I also learned how to read tournament postings, check on my ranking, and all about chess clocks and incremental timing that's going to be very handy when we sit down to play my second ever chess game! There is no information in this book on how to actually.play. There's pages and pages about tournament etiquette and rules, pages that could have been used to walk through a couple of sample games or at least gives the moves of a beginner's game that I could recreate.Bottom line is this book tells how to move the pieces and prepares you to participate in a tournament. Gee, I think the author skipped a step.

A Beginner Guide Anyone Can Learn From!
Chess 101 is a really great guide that literally takes you from a blank game board and slowly step by step moves you up. I've actually been afraid to play just Cuz it looks so complex!! LolWell the author has cleverly changes my tune here. I'm gonna learn the game and beat my kids!Great book I recommend you buy if you want to learn the game!

Great book for beginners
This is a great book for beginners just getting started. It not only explains the rules of chess but chess competition, chess notation, everything you would need to know to get started. It does not provide information to improve your chess game.

Total rip-off
It doesn’t tell you how to play. There is nothing in the book that you can’t get from the simple instruction that comes from your chess set.

Great beginners book
This book is a great introduction to the game’s rules and mechanics. It’s probably the first book about chess that you should read!

Good basic book
Easy to understand. Builds a good foundation to start from. It is not a strategy book but has a few puzzles at the end.

A waste. 0 content.
Someone printed a "vague things you should know about chess" as a book. Save your money and buy something different

I received a book as a Christmas present for a new young chess player. It arrived from USA in quick time and well received by grandson on Christmas Day

A Chess book for those who have never seen a board - Don't purchase it.
This book has nothing apart from basic moves and etiquettes. It is a good book for someone who has never seen a board and knows nothinh about chess. But most people in most countries will have this much information by the time they are 5 or from a General Knowledge book .It was a waste of money for me as even as a beginner book i expected to learn about basic openings and how to procede through the middle game. Instead this book just says, dont give up in all stages of the game. Most other beginners books will have this much info in their forewood or the first chapter. It seems waste of money for this piece of advice.

Ok
Ok at best. Could get the same info for free online almost anywhere. Good for someone who doesn’t know/want to do a google search I guess.

Don't read if you know rules of chess
It contains basic rules... If you are are looking for easily explained chess openings then not this. Only read if you are complete stranger ger to chess.
