A must read if you have an e-newsletter as part of your business or marketing program
I own a small business and promote my books and services in a variety of ways, one of which is an e-newsletter. When I started it I naively thought you just created an e-mail list, typed up your e-newsletter for the week and hit send.It never occurred to me that there were laws about such things or that there are a lot of subtle, and not so subtle, things you need to know when you use e-mail as part of your marketing plan. Some of the topics covered in this book include SPAM laws, opt-in e-mail lists, e-mail etiquette, subject lines to obtain better response and so on.Constant Contact is one of the best e-mail list management companies out there and this book is very helpful, well organized, and easy to understand. The information is presented in such a way that you can read one of the brief chapters and put the information to immediate use.I could have saved myself a lot of time, effort and energy if I had purchased this book before I started my e-newsletter.Kevin Sivils - author of Self-Publishing with Amazon's CreateSpace: A Resource Guide for the Author Considering Self-Publishing

Half good information, half marketing pitch for CC, overall useful
Don't expect to get an unbiased viewpoint when a book has the name of a company in the title. The writer definitely thinks that signing up for Constant Contact is the best way to go, and makes this clear throughout the book. However, Constant Contact IS an excellent marketing service (we use it ourselves), so it's not really a bad recommendation.Other then that, the information given is good and very useful. A lot of it is just revealing the things that companies like Constant Contact do for their customers behind the scenes. That way, you know what's going on, you could do it yourself if you wanted to, and you can better use their services. Recommended for people interested in email marketing in general, and especially those using Constant Contact or a similar service.

great tool for those already using Constant Contact
I've been a customer of Constant Contact's for years so I appreciated that the book was pretty much written specifically for their customers; although the principles of marketing and emphasis on permission-based list building is useful to anyone with an email campaign. I appreciated the approach of always maintaining a high level of integrity in this type of marketing with the goal of loyal customers for as long as you're in business - not just a quick sale. The instructions were very specific for list-building, directing attention to your website, building brand awareness and creating relevant content. I'll refer to this book again & again.

Repetitive Basic Information
Are we going backward in writing communication? Why the author insists on stating the obvious again and again "Don't spam people" is baffling to me. It would help if the book contained more about the process of email communication and building email content - I will continue to look information about creating a productive email campaign (that is it a skill between sales, customer service, product knowledge, editing, technical ability, and more)

It's okay, but not quite what I was hoping for
I'm really looking for more of a Constant contact for dummies type guide, I was hoping this might be it, but it isn't. It's a great book on the email marketing side *yes, I know it says that on the cover, lol, but I was desperately seeking anything to do with constant contact to get up to speed quickly for a project at work* For me this book will remain on the shelf for possible future reference, but it just wasn't what i was hoping for.

Not what I was looking for
I was looking for a manual about how to use Constant Contact, but this is just a marketing guide.

Great advice especially for CC clients
Concise and well organized. Picked this book because I recently started using CC. Obviously valuable to CC customers but I'd recommend it to anyone considering email marketing.

Good content
The book has good information for anyone who wants to get started with email marketing. I would suggest it as a starting point for email marketing information. Keep in mind that this comes from constant contact and so it reads sometimes like a Marketing Brochure. Look into more books to get a broader understanding.
