Item does not work
Bought this item very expensive. Got it home seems like it’s playing tape but get no video or audio. Item does not work then. Have tried both av cables and coax. Item does not have an s video out or hdmi which I knew. Was hoping to transfer my 23 tapes. Seems like I’m missing something. Remote doesn’t work either. Sucks that I let myself be had by this

Very nice VCR from Sony that plays both Hi8 and Video 8 tapes. It is solidly built and the controls work instantly with a soft touch. It produces a beautiful picture. Highly recommended.

Product was not functional
The product would not output a signal. I purchased new cables - to eliminate the cables as an issue. The system simply would not output a signal.

Excellent
This unit is great. The reason for only 4 stars is that there is something loose and rattling around inside the cabinet. All seems to function well, but whatever is loose inside is a bit concerning. This product was purchased used.

Price is way too high
I bought this unit a few months ago and it is fine. But I bought it for $49.00 I see many more at that price. I also bought the high 8 adaptor for a regular VHR and it works very well. Paid $39 for the adaptor. I do not know why this one is so expensive.

BEST VCR SONY ever made
This 8mm Video Recorder has one of the best pictures I have ever seen. It's better than my Beta unit and my S-VHS VCR. The sound is excellent too. This unit is also great for editing. I used to shoot all my training videos for work on 8mm and edit them at home on this machine with very little loss in picture resolution. It's just a very good machine and format.
