I really enjoyed reading about Mick
I really enjoyed reading about Mick. I remembered him as the surfer who was attacked by a shark in a surf contest and remember watching that footage. Very chilling. Seems to be a guy everyone likes. Good read.

Simply written story of Mick's life & career
Interesting to hear Mick's story but it wasn't a super-exciting read. Mick has had a lot of ups and downs on his was to his 2 world tours and the book basically walks you though his life step by step.

"This book is not a biography. I feel I'm too young and still have many episodes of my life to explore." While his words remain true, the story of Mick's journey to his World Championship Tour title win in 2007 involves a lifetime's worth of struggles, setbacks and hard-won victories.By using a mixture of autobiography, surfing tips, interviews and philosophy, Mick, with his co-writer Tim Baker, have written an awesome account that is weaved together in such a way as to make the overall impact of the book greater than the sum of its parts.Compared to fellow Aussie champion Mark Occhilupo, who has had his fair share of ups and downs, Mick's attitude to adversity is much more scientific and focused. Whereas Occy's troubles tended to last for longer periods, Mick's ability to analyse situations and be more pro-active in his efforts to understand what is going wrong and how to fix it, has meant that he has been able to move on at a faster pace - examples are the use of sports psychologists and taking up the CHEK training regime. His love of the Ocean and family support (like Occy) is certainly a key part of his success. But beyond that, Fanning's determined attitude and team ethos have proved crucial in an epic journey from the pits of despair to ultimate sporting glory.

what isn't to like. It was written a few years ago but ...
It's a book about Mick Fanning....what isn't to like . It was written a few years ago but it's a great insight into how he became who he is today. With bits from his mum in there too. If you love competitive surfing then this is a must read as Mick is one of the most iconic surfers of his generation.
