good bulb, vile packaging
We have a large training room with 90W floods. Tried a number of fluorescent replacements and, as expected, none were are as good as incandescent. Slow to start and weird color. However, the GE 26 W Energy Smart floods are as good as any and better than most. Since nine bulbs burn most of the time here, the energy savings are large, and well worth it. Bulbs came promptly and in good shape. However, they were individually ensconced in heavy plastic shells and then further wrapped in a huge amount of plastic bubble. For people trying to be more environmentally responsible, this waste is very dismaying, which is why my rating is three rather than four stars.

Lasted About Four Months
I ordered this in June and installed it over the work area in my kitchen. By mid-October, it's dead! It's true that I leave that light on all the time because I come home through the kitchen and almost always after dark. That's maybe 2,160 hours. The nine year claimed life at four hours/day would 365 * 9 * 4 = 13,140, so this (expensive) flood light lasted 16% of its claimed lifetime. It was installed indoors, in a ceiling fixture, so no vibration or physical abuse. It should have done a lot better.I bought two. Maybe the next one will be better. I hope so.At the moment, I believe that CF bulbs are not net savers of energy. Short lifetimes and high energy cost to manufacture mean this bulb may have consumed more total energy than a comparable incandescent.Edit: I must have been very tired (or it was very dark!) because my arithmetic was wrong. Now fixed.

Light bulbs brighten your day
I ordered the wrong size bulb base so I had to send them back - they were very easy with the return but a little steep with the re-stocking and shipping charges - so order with them for sure just make sure you order right!

Good Product
I have 6 overhead lights in my kitchen. Without 26 watt 1300 lumens my kitchen seems too dark. These bulbs seem to be a little hard to get locally. The price might be a little high but with free shipping you can't beat it.

best of both worlds
We all know we need to move to CFLs for energy efficiency - for our own finances and the environment. But for those of us with "can lights", the visible part of the bulb has to look right! This product solves those problems - and if it lives up to its 6-year-life prediction, it will more than pay for itself.Walmart and Target, etc., have these in stock, but sometimes only one or two! I bought a case so I would always have them around and not be tempted to backslide to incandescent!!

I don't know if this was old stock or what ...
I don't know if this was old stock or what, but it takes seconds to even light then is very dim for several minutes. Does not work for my application.

Darn luckey if it lasts a year.
They take forever to get to full illumination. And they don't last that long. But after they warm up...10 minutes or so, they will work.

Multiple failures.. I ordered (6) 2 years ago. I've replaced 4 so far.
Multiple failures.. I ordered (6) 2 years ago. I've replaced 4 so far. What else is there to say.. These are supposed to have a 9 year lifetime. I use them for 2-6 hours a day, sometimes none at all. Very disappointed considering they cost $11 to replace one.
