The Least You Should Know About English: Writing Skills 12th Edition

This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to know the basics of grammar and punctuation, and it is also one of the few textbooks I kept after finishing the course. It covers subjects such as commonly confused words, comma rules, and sentence structure in an easy to follow layout. It also includes a lot of practice pages, which I found very helpful. I'm not a grammar snob by any means, but I do believe it would be a wise investment for many of the self-publishing authors I see on Amazon.

I used it to review my reading and writing skills for taking state required teacher's tests. It is very well structured and drill style, so although it still was challenging, very comprehensive. Ideally, I should have had a support system of a proof reader/ writing coach ( at least a person to read and comment on my writing) while following the book, but I didn't have anyone handy then. Still it was extremely useful to have this book. Buying it is a little too costly, so I rented the kindle version. If you need it only for a week, free sample could be just as good.

I bought it for school and am only 3 chapters in and some of the pages are half out. Not sure what it will be like by the end of the class.
