A great buy for the money.
Soundmagic E11C review The earphones come well packaged in a nice cut-foam insert, all feeling sensibly professional without being over the top. There are a couple of different sizes of spare ear tips, and a snazzy little carrying case. The red zip makes it look smarter than most of the half dozen of these I have lying around, and it feels like a little sturdier and more protective than some. Fit and finish of the things is very slick. The housing of plug, splitter, volume control and earbuds is all shades of brushed aluminium, with logos and L/R markers seemingly laser etched on. The strain relief at the joins is all a smart looking clear plastic, and the cable itself feels robust. Apparently silver plated copper, for if you believe in cables, it seems like it would cope with a little bit of abuse, and didn’t tangle too easily. The overall feel is of an earphone built like an absolute tank, that could easily stand up to the abuse of day to day use, and look smart and slick while doing it. Fit-wise, they... fit?... they don’t seem very sensitive to insertion depth or positioning, and with my reasonably small ears both the small and medium tips were comfortable, and I settled on the mediums as they stayed in the ears best. The housing is sensibly compact, and they settle pretty far into the ears, but I wouldn’t want to be wearing them to sleep with. Isolation is very reasonable; there is no sound leakage, and the vast majority of outside noise is cut out when playing music in a noisy environment. I have been driving these mainly from a Fiio BTR1 dongle, as well as my unwieldy-yet-great-sounding Audioquest jitterbug/dragonfly black combo. They were perfectly happy being driven from the Fiio, although the dynamic driver did seem to like the extra power the dragonfly could supply. For the sound, I would characterise these as pleasantly unsurprising. The frequency response is impressive, and tested on a signal generator were giving a strong sound out down to 35Hz. SoundMAGIC claim a frankly laughable 15Hz, which is frankly only sound if you are a blue whale, but for normal listening the bass extension is more than adequate. There is a good amount of bass, without it being overpowering and intrusive. The high frequencies are pretty forward in their presentation, making these a livelier rather than relaxing listen, and this is pretty sensible for earphones that are likely to be an on-the-go listen, as this means the sound is less loss against background noise. Midrange is solid and warm, without being over-lush and muddy, if it is a little less forward in presentation than the bass or highs. Overall, I am very happy with these earphones. They look and feel great, and the sound is unremarkable in the best way, as they just sit out of the way and let the music through. A great choice in this price range.

Very good quality so far.
the best wired headphones I had so far, looking good, great sound and bass, good quality so far, we will see how they perform longer term. Four star - because the cable is a bit noisy while listening to the music.

Good price and decent performance - fit is important
I owned a pair of these a few years ago and eventually sold them because they were a bit underwhelming. I've since realised that fit is super important for ear buds. I've found some tips which fit my ears well and I just put those (Spinfit) tips on the earbuds - without trying the supplied tips although I may try them later. With the right tips these buds are good. They are light, they fit comfortably and sound good. I've tried them with movies, music and the venerable Alan Parsons Sound Check CD (very useful because it has single and multiple instrument tracks, recorded well with little processing). These handle all of that very well. The sound is nicely balanced with no low end booming or shrill top end. The microphone and and controls work well enough for me - certainly well enough for use with a Duolingo French course. The gun metal finish is nicer than the black I had previously and the ear buds look and feel more expensive than they are. As to noise isolation, they cut down on background noise a little bit but nothing like ANC can do. They are quite sensitive and on an iPad can go very loud, but not so much on my Android phone. On the iPad they sound loud at half volume but on the Android phone 3/4 volume is just about loud enough. Overall, I'm pleased with these earbuds this time around especially for the price. Now I can bin my 20 year old Shure earbuds because I've got a more competent replacement pair.

They come out too easily
I am an amateur music listener, and cant compare the technicalities as I don't understand them... but I can say the sound quality is very clear but feels a bit distant, especially at first. It isn't a cosy sound. It feels a bit cold. The base isn't amazing compared to my JBL flow pros, flip 6, or even Tribit xsound go which cost 30 quid. But the sound is very crisp and clear, so if that's what you're looking for, go for it. It's handy having the volume controller, but I find it tricky adjusting the volume as all you have to find which button to press for either + or - is a tiny spot of a lump. Thus it can be a bit of a faff to change the volume. I find the apple earphone cable ones a better and easier design. Another thing is the fact they don't stay in your ears amazingly. Maybe it's just my ears, but I've tried all the sizes of bud they provide, and none of them are great. Also, when the buds are in your ears, there is an unpleasant loud base-y noise if you knock or pull the cable. The good things about these earphones are the noise, the style, and the fact they don't give your brain neurological cognitive disorders from EMFs from Bluetooth... However, for the reasons I have mentioned previously, I wouldn't recommend these earphones. Hope this review helps with your decision-making :-)

Presentation wise on first impress, I have to say that I received the box as if it was straight out of the factory. There was this plastic protector over the see-through window that showed the product and it looked quite messy. Obviously, this thing was meant to be hung on a hook in a store so this is expected. But the presentation definitely gave off a cheap vibe. Also, SoundMagic! You need to improve your box art! The fonts felt very generic, the layout was just meh! For a product that was supposed to be sold in a store, it definitely didn’t look presentable! But the product itself is definitely very high quality. The raw cord is covered in a translucent plastic cover. The cord is also very rigid. Also, unlike other earbuds, the cord feels very solid. You know how in other earbuds, it’s two cords just glued together? The singular construction through this plastic sheathing added an extra feeling of premium. And... the connector is gold-plated. Looks wise, this is your standard bullet-shape earbud. The earbuds, media controls, and connector handle are made of some type of brushed aluminum or steel and dang, it feels really nice. Maybe it won’t feel so good in the cold winter, but the cold metal felt very, very premium. I like that. My only critique of the actual earbuds is the media controls. It does include a microphone and media control buttons for iOS and Android devices. But the controls is on the left cord—traditionally, it is on the right. And SoundMagic, there is NO tactility on these buttons! The centre play/pause is very hard to feel and the volume buttons have no distinguishing feature like ridge dividers or some sort of raised button for VOL UP. Honestly, this could be so much better. I did not get the chance to check the microphone quality. I will update this review if I ever do. Some little things: they come with several sized tips. The medium is already attached. And an added bonus: a little case for the little guys! I actually like the case a lot, it comes with two pouches so you can put USB-C or Lightning adapters and carry them around! Now, the sound quality. This is actually recommended widely by a variety of sound-focused publications out there. On first listen, I have to say that there is a slight warmth to the sound signature. Since they are earbuds with no venting, I find the soundstage rather non-existent or very, very narrow. This is a neutral earbud for me. For consumers, this will generally equate to a “boring” sound, especially since most consumer-oriented products go for a V-shape sound signature that recesses the mids and emphasizes the bass and treble. On the E11C, the low, mids, and highs are equally represented across all the tracks I’ve played. And the three parts actually sound very full and present. Due to the neutral nature, I find that no part of these three regions are necessarily very detailed. For comparison, the ZSN Pro has a very detailed, precise bass while these definitely don’t. A lot of these issues can be solved with an equalizer. But of course, the warmth remains. Should you buy the SoundMagic E11C? For the price, I actually recommend them! They are a good value and they feel very premium. Since they are not IEMs, I do not consider the lack of removable/replaceable cords to be a con. My only considerable con, which is actually quite subjective, is that although the acoustic representation of these buds are quite excellent, it lacks a true identity to their sound. It isn’t as “fun” to listen to; it doesn’t change the listening experience of songs I typically listen to. Clearly, these buds are trying to satisfy everyone and honestly, if you are currently using the earbuds that came with your phone, this is a DEFINITE upgrade. Definitely recommend for the price, the quality, and the overall package.
