What size Allen wrench is needed to remove this shower head?

There is a very small allen screw on the side of the valve, but I've never needed to do anything with it. The head comes on and off with a wrench. I've had one in use in my houses for nearly forty years.

Is this one still made in America? I bought one 24 years ago and because of hard water the head droops when adjusted otherwise STILL the best!

yes go on line sloan ac11 and others will show up. Search around in that site and you will get it. I did. Because it is still the best. Have them on all my shower heads for 50 years

Can this Sloan Showerhead be adapted to a hose-type mount rather than wall-mount?

I guess it could with the right plumbing fittings. It will however be heavy because it is could quality shower head. heavy metal. Wall mounted preferred.

can flow be adjusted to point that the water merges below the head into a narrow solid stream?

The spray pattern is not adjustable. You may be able to turn the volume of flow down to a dribble, but that would be it.
