A great filter - relatively easy to install - great results
We purchased this unit to filter particulate from our well water. I loved the taste of our water and didn't expect improvement in the taste, but,to my surprise, the taste of the water has improved. Not sure what the filter is removing but the water is even more wonderful after the filter installation. It does take 2 days to saturate the activated charcoal before installing so be sure to allow 48 hours for the filter presoak. I have seen no decrease in water pressure as the manual suggests will indicate a saturated pre-filter. It has been 2 months since we installed it so I don't expect the pre-filters will be much of an expense.

Very good filter for hard water
This really works. The water is much softer now and we no longer have the white marks from calcium deposits. I recommend a professional plumber install the unit. Changing the filter seems easy enough for us.

healthier water
We noticed a difference right away after installing the water filter and feel better knowing all the chlorine is out of the water we drink and wash our food with. Highly recommend this to everyone.

Filter great, installation a pain
We bought the Pelican PC600 Premium Whole House Water Filter and have been very happy with it. The awful chlorine taste our water used to have is gone, the water tastes good and fresh. That said, I have to add that the installation was a pain. The hose bib for soaking the carbon medium is a piece of crap, it leaked and I had to replace it. Also, I had to buy another hose bib so that the water that's coming out of the filter when flushing it would run into the sink and not on my feet. The installation was quite costly (ca $525) because of the piping needed to connect it to the main line and the labor that went into it. Additionally, we put in a couple of shut-off valves so that we could bypass the carbon filter and the pre-filter in case of leaks. Good thinking because the pre-filter/pipe connection did indeed leak after installation. The plumber could fix it without taking the whole thing apart and without leaving us cut off from the water supply. We also had to install a pressure reducer (our city water is at 95+ PSI, the filter system takes no more than 80) and a gauge. That's how we ended up with the $525 installation costs. So, overall we're very happy with the filter system, but it would be good if the Pelican folks were more straightforward about the additional costs for material and labor. It's not a plug-and-play system. Particularly the pre-filter comes with no additional plumbing parts whatsoever. The plastic connections tend to leak and it cost my plumber quite some time and repeated attempts to find a good solution (he didn't even charge me for that).

Was Given Old Product Operation Manual for PC600
I just bought PC600 this week. The salesman Jim G. gave me an old Product Operation Manual kit NSC3-6 Rev-N, which did not come with hose bib assembly or instructions for soaking and flushing of the tank. The online manual PC600-1000 Rev R includes those instructions and the hose bib assembly in the parts list. We had to jury-rig parts to complete the soak-flush procedure, which made the procedure very difficult.

Total waste of money and very shady
We were moving to Texas and the home we bought had a well with VERY hard water and sulfur odor issues. Professional well testing was done along with a water analysis. No bacteria - very clean water, but very hard water. I have had a liver transplant and am always aware of food and water safety being a retired RN. We called and explained our challenges and asked for their professional opinion on what system would solve our concerns. We ended up spending $2600+ on a system and another $1500 for installation by their recommended installer. It fixed the sulfur odor, I'll give it that. The system looks like a drunk monkey installed it, I have included a photo to show how bad the installation looks. None of the lines are level, there is NO shutoff valve so we can't even bypass the system. It is impossible to run 2 faucets at once or the flow drops to a slow trickle - thank goodness it is only my husband and I. I should also mention that the home inspection reveled that the water pressure was on the high side prior to this system being installed. I called today to see if something could be done. The service person had a very kinda "so what" attitude. No solution or suggestions offered, just "to bad".

5 Years - PC600 Whole House Water Filter
I am really surprised to see the pelican water filter receive bad reviews. I purchased it directly from Pelican 5 years ago but now Amazon is selling the product I can purchase from Amazon. The unit is really good. Where I live in Georgia I can tell the difference in the taste of the water before and after installing Pelican. When I failed to replace the pre-filter every three months, it is 100% filtering the water. The white filters are brown. Over the years, I can tell when the pre-filter need to be replaced. This unit is really special to me. I also purchased the Big Berkey water filter for my kitchen so I get the double dose. I'm a health fanatic so after days and days of research, I found this system to be the best 5 years ago. I found an OK handyman who charged me about $200 bucks to install. I didn't use the installers from Pelican. After he install it, he wouldn't return my phone calls. This system takes a minute to install. If it wasn't installed properly, you might not be getting the results you wanted. I research everything, repairs for my car, repairing appliances in my home, install ceiling fans, etc, etc. I'm a single parent so people tend to play games but they leave my house quickly if they don't say the right things. I do the research. I need to replace the media of the pelican and that will take a few days to install properly. Please don't be discouraged. Find someone to help you properly installed the unit and do the research and ask plenty of questions.
