The Avengers - Series 6 [DVD]

The Avengers Tara King Years get a bad rap I think. I acknowledge that some of the scripts were weak or at the very least absurd. And dying her beautiful brown hair blonde was a bad mistake. But Linda Thorson made the role her own. She had her own brand of sexiness and I thought she worked off Patrick Macnee quite well, considering the stuff they had to work from and the revolving door of producers. The Mother character is a decent addition. And as a fan of Doctor Who, Monty Python, and other British TV, it is always interesting to see the guest stars who show up.I was quite pleased to find this at a decent price on Amazon. This is a Region 2 DVD so if you are an American fan, make sure you have a region free DVD player like I do - or prepare to download some compatible software on the web.This 9 disc set is packed with extras and I like extras. I particularly liked watching the surviving video clips from the actresses who auditioned for the part but did not get it. Lots of still photos from the show to view and I always like those. A few test video shots. I am always fascinated with those kind of relics from the past.

I live in the Detroit Metro Area near Winsor Canada. I used to watch this series on Canadian television Channel 9 in the 60s and 70s. The Blu-ray picture is SO Much Nicer to Watch!! vs. the old TV broadcast standard when I was a kid. "You WILL NEED A Region Free Blu-ray Player!!" I have one and it was a great investment being able to watch TV and Movies that have yet to be released in the US. I will probably buy the other sets from the UK. They have been cleaned up and are much better than the US domestic releases.

Always liked these Avengers. This group brings in Linda Thorson as Patrick McGee's partner. The two manage to stop whatever evil plot is brought about with a bit of humor thrown in.

Not as good as the Emma Peel series but still fun to watch.

Yet another classic TV series not fully released in Blu-Ray here in the US , the Emma Peel 1967 color season was released here but not the 1965/66 Emma Peel (B&W) seasons nor the Tara King (color) season . This is a beautifully re-mastered version of the Tara King episodes to add to your Avengers collection. Looks fantastic on my new 4K TV. Plus great special features (with a UK/European flair ) that you would not have gotten here is the US even if we had released it. If you are a super fan - get a multi-region player and enjoy the show!

First off the block, you do need a region 2 or region free player to watch it, which are easy enough to get nowadays. As for the episodes themselves, granted none of the episodes are the best of the Avengers, and the stories are incredibly on the silly side, they are still infinitely better than some of the shows thst are out there today and are well worth watching in that respect

StudioCanal does supreme justice to the iconic 1960s British spy series--at a modest price--with sharp and colorful digital transfers, uncut episodes, loads of vintage treasures (including stills) and a healthy supply of new introductions and commentaries. In Blu-ray, this is the definitive presentation of "The Avengers" and the show has never looked or sounded better, even during its first run. The only marginal drawback is that this set is currently available only in a Region 2 format and, therefore, not playable on most American equipment..

Recently added all region capability to my Oppo. Always loved The Avengers, and had not seen the Tara eps in ages. Plays well on my system, perfect reason to go multi region in your player. Great show. Great fun.

excellent example of TV seies in the late 60's. Couleful, quiky and above all entetaining. T King fom beginning to end, except fo the awful Homicide and old Lace., shows a vastly impoved chaacte . Best way to view the show.
