Not what I was hoping for
This book is not bad, but a bit disappointing. The author is very enthusiastic about birds but the title led me to believe that it would have more photos or diagrams on actual backyard set-ups for inviting birds in. I have been into photography for 45 years so I don't care much about the technical side. I was hoping for lists of plants and feeders as well as backdrop ideas for making outdoor bird "studios".

Did not make my expectation
I appreciate the effort of the author to relay to his readers the first hand experience on how to do backyard bird photography, but he has this rambling style that the point he is trying to communicate easily get lost as you keep on reading. Some of the photos are not the best. The cropping and the composition are poorly done.I bought the book with high expectations seeing that it got 4 and 5 stars but I am disappointed.

Great book for nature lovers!
Fantastic new book about bird photography. Written for everyone, not just experienced birders and photographers, very accessible. Plenty of pictures of common backyard birds from both the east and west coasts, shown as you will actually see them, and not in the formal style of most bird guides. And did I mention that the photographs are absolutely gorgeous?Mr. Tekulsky is a renowned nature writer and photographer (some of his photographs have been included in the official Yosemite guide, as well as many gallery shows and museum collections). To ensure that the book is not over dry, he includes many personal experiences along with extensive technical information. I truly believe that anyone with an interest in birds or nature photography will enjoy this beautiful book.

Great book on bird photography in your backyard.
As a photographer and a collector of photographs, I really enjoyed this book. It’s worth the price alone just for the photographs, which are portraits of birds and show the artistic side of bird photography. This book should inspire readers to try their luck and skill at obtaining their own bird photographs

Perhaps a bit light on the technical side of things ...
Perhaps a bit light on the technical side of things, but thoroughly enjoyable and generally informative. Advice from an established well recognised expert.
