Q: Do I have to use this in conjuction with a computer or can it be used with out the use if a computer?

It is a lot cooler with the right software on a computer. It records a lot more data than what it shows on the receiver. Neat to see records and graphs with software.

Q: How do I know when the batteries are low?

Before I started powering mine with the USB port I would lose connection to the sensor when the batteries were low.
