Great device, amazing technology, but horrible instructions and terrible app (20.5in model)
I bought this fan (20.5in model Z7H) to try mount onto an extendable pole to use as a rave totem to display animated GIFs that I can change on the fly from my phone. The device itself is cool and works very well, once you figure it out and learn the limitations. The APP (3D LED FAN for iOS) is in broken English and is not intuitive at all to use. There is no bulk upload feature and no way to organize the hundreds of different animations I wanted to upload. It will play everything that is uploaded in the order it is uploaded, with no way of picking and choosing which images to display. It will read most image file formats and MP4 videos, but it does NOT support GIF playback. It just displays the first frame. For this issue, I made an iOS shortcut that converts a GIF to MP4 and loops it for X number of seconds. PROS: - Surprisingly bright. At 100 brightness it can easily be seen in direct sunlight. - Decent picture quality, considering its a fan. Images are pixelated and have rings up close, but look fine from a few feet away. - Runs at 12V 4A DC, but can run off a portable USB-C power bank with this adapter: USB C to DC 12V Adapter - Has easy access UART pins and is easy to root (more details at bottom) CONS: - HIJACKS BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS! Whenever this fan is on, it repeatedly tries to connect to any Bluetooth device in range, and just appears as some generic name. I was unable to play any music through my stereo while it was on as it would connect every 60 seconds and kick my phone off. There is a setting in the app for "Volume Control" with an on/off toggle. Turning this off stops it from doing this, but does NOT save, so this setting will be on again after a reboot... - Creating an account for some cloud service hosted in China is required to remotely manage the device. However, it will make it's own network and can be connected to directly and managed offline if you are within Wi-Fi range. - Management APP is terrible - Impossible to get good video of, as cameras pick up the spinning. Lower refresh rate video works better. TECHNICAL DETAILS: This fan runs on an Allwinner V3s ARM SoC with 32MB of RAM, as well as a proprietary FPGA to control the LED display. The system itself runs Android 4.2.2 with a process named mplayer that controls display of the image and initialization of the system. It hosts a busybox FTP server on a static IP of 192.168.10.123 that the app connects to to upload files. Managing the images is a lot easier with a 3rd party FTP app. However, for it to recognize new images were added/deleted, you must upload something with the official app after you make any changes. I have been unable to locate a full firmware image, but partial updates are available from a Chinese file server found with a quick google search. ADB is disabled out of the box, but I was able to patch the mplayer process and replace the system command to format the SD card to instead start the ADB process. EDIT 10-2-25: Well, 2 years later still works great, but these hologram fans have gotten much cheaper than what I bought it for in 2023 and I'm a bit peeved lmao. Spent $250 on this :/

Poor instructions and customer support
I really like the product, but we've struggled with the instructions, setup and with poor customer support. Its a quality product, but is useless if you can't program and operate it. Sincerely; Customer needing help ClarenceO

Impressive brightness and easy setup
Verified Purchase — This GIWOX 3D hologram fan exceeded my expectations. The image is bright, sharp, and very eye-catching, even in a well-lit room. Setup was fast, and uploading content through the app or TF card is straightforward. The fan is sturdy, runs smoothly, and is perfect for grabbing attention at events or demos. Great value for a professional-looking display.

Definitely worth the price
I bought this product with a lot of doubt… I didn’t think it would work as well as advertised or be easy to manage, but quite the contrary it’s got a very easy user interface, and it works amazingly well… The image it projects is very clear and very bright and it’s very easy to use… It’s not that expensive and it is very useful… I bought it for my band and it definitely adds a lot of flare to our performance… The remote control doesn’t work, but you don’t really need it

Was unable to setup/sync. Instructions not clear.
Unfortunately device was not syncing to our PC device. To install on an android, You need to download an unsecured app to Android. I purchased this before a show and unfortunately was unable to use it. Would welcome support or help.

Great Product!
We bought a few months ago. I finally had some time to put this together. The graphics really pop-out when you turn this on. The instructions are not great (not very clear or detailed). Once I figured out how to get graphics on this it blew me away. I tried the cubes for creating and then found I liked straight photos and graphics more than the cube layouts provided. You can adjust the order the graphics appear, the length, and how many times it will play before it advances. It rotates through what is loaded. I put over 100 graphics and pictures on. I made graphics on my computer. Then I uploaded to an iPhone. From there I installed into the app. There is a computer software available but only for a PC not a Mac. Not supporting a Mac is my greatest complaint. Otherwise it is great! The comments from attendees at the conference has been nothing but positives. Lots of stunned and impressed viewers. It drew people to my booth. As a result I have had more opportunities to share our nonprofit story.

Expensive but well worth the price
I first purchased one of the cheap knockoffs - half the size, a quarter the price. but it just did not work. hardware seemed flimsy and the software was in chinese and did not work. Even if it had worked - that device (like many others) requires the video file to be converted to a .bin format THIS unit works great. files need no conversion (mp4 etc work directly). remote control works well. the PC and mobile control programs work very well. Easy to add/delete/reorder videos over wifi (these units will be mounted 20 feet up on a pole at a trade show). You can start and stop, set brightness etc. Image is very bright and is visible from a long distance. I plan to purchase three more. Edit: I just ordered three more units. That says it all. FYI - All the demo videos the seller has on their site are of fully 3D objects spinning and moving. I am using this for a trade show display and wanted to display 3D looking text that is moving, changing. I checked aorund and finally decided to just create it in powerpoint (it can export to MP4 HD). After all, what I want is multiple "slides" each with animated 3D text, plus some images and videos. That worked great! I would post a video, but due to "rolling shutter" it is very difficult to video a spinning object. edit - two years later. These are still working great and with them up on that pole (there are two back to back at 16 feet and two back to back at 13 feet, rotated 90deg) you can see them from hundreds of feet away. People come walking up with their mouth hanging open and ask "How the hell does that work?"
