Fantastic breakfast sandwich maker
I was kind of skeptical about this thing but am having such a good experience with it. Easy breakfast sandwiches and incredibly easy clean up. If you're like me and hate reading directions, don't overlook that each sandwich apparatus pops out and removes from the main griddle machine for easy cleaning. I didn't notice this until I went through a couple of messy clean ups and it made all the difference. I like spraying a little bit of Pam in the bottom which aids greatly in reducing sticking and improves clean up. Very enjoyable sandwich machine and I'm finding myself using it almost daily. Great recipes on their website. Good bang for your buck considering the utility and low cost. Tips: 1) Don't overload the top tray. Just put as little as possible on top of the egg. If you load stuff in the top tray and then close it, the weight and pressure will push the egg through the seams and you'll get runny egg on the base of the griddle plate making clean up more difficult. I just put cheese on top of the egg, wait about 20 seconds and then gently lay the top muffin/mini bagel and gently let the top tray rest on top and I rarely get egg running out the sides. ***Also, take a fork and pierce the egg yolk so that it flattens out. This will also cause less pressure from a non uniform surface. 2) Go easy on the cheese. Too much cheese will just make a mess. 3) A little bit of Pam spray on the top tray lets the bottom slide release much smoother. I heat mine up while I'm getting everything ready. I let 20-30 secs go by before I put the cheese on top of the egg and this allows it to start cooking and I have much less running from the seams. 4.5 minutes and the sandwich is perfect. Love this gadget. I never knew I'd use it as much as I do and it's become an almost daily part of my breakfast routine.

Simple and Very Consistent
Hamilton Beach is one of those brands with a lot of question marks, at least for me. I decided to write this review because this sandwich maker really outperforms my overall expectations. The videos in the ad are informative and accurate. I have used this to make about twenty breakfast sandwiches thus far and the only time things didn't work out were due to my errors. The total time from initial preheat, (3 minutes) to tasty breakfast is 8-12 minutes depending on your ingredients and tolerance for heated food. The egg can spill over some but the cleaning has been minimal. I have not had a sticking issue but I use a spray to make sure. I find a pair of silicone coated tongs work well to remove my sandwiches rather than a spatula. If you put meat in, the level may tilt and the egg may not spread evenly. It will cook but may leak through to the bottom. Again, not difficult to clean up. I have not used bacon, oooh, bacon!?! but I would not be surprised to see a greasy mess. I would probably use leftover bacon rather than fresh bacon. On that note, you MUST use cooked meats in this appliance. Most bacon is cured but will release a lot of grease. If I were to make an improvement, it would be to include an auto shut off. You need to be attentive to prevent an issue, but since I am usually hungry as a bear in the morning, I am drooling as I wait to hear that beep-beep saying it's breakfast time!! This is an inexpensive alternative to a drive-thru and will require as much time out of your day as waiting in line. Plus, you can make your coffee, or whatever you do, while you wait. unlike sitting in your car listening to traffic reports. LOL. Bottom line, if you are here, you want a way to make an easy breakfast. This is it, if you want an egg based sandwich. Dead short technology has been around way too long for there to be issues related to electrical reliability. I believe user care and the design which eliminates the potential to contaminate the circuitry from normal use is far more important than brand name on such a basic appliance. I wrote this review because I would buy it again for the same price, even if it fails within a few years. Why? Because it would most likely be my fault if it fails. For the small price compared to the drive -thru alternative, my break even is less than 10 trips to the clown show. UPDATE 11/2025 I have been enjoying this sandwich maker for a long time now, and I still find it to be as good today as the first day I used it. I mentioned above, that this brand leaves some questions, but at this point, it is a slam dunk. I have never had a problem with it, it has performed flawlessly, it is a great value and I just love it. Initially, I figured there were enough videos out there to explain all the features and functions, but after some time, I have learned a few things to share with all of you. Mainly, the incorporation of a wi-fi enabled outlet as shown in my video is a great way to ad a timer/switch to my/your routine. I set the outlet for 8-10 minutes, depending on what is in my sandwich, and initiate that process 10 minutes or so from the time I want to eat my breakfast. I prepare all of it the night before, usually with a frozen sausage patty to keep things cool overnight. I get up and go through my routine, and by the time it's all said and done, I am showered, have my coffee in hand, and my breakfast ready to go. This is such a time saver, and very reliable, that I have put a lot of effort into this review for your convenience and understanding, so you too, may enjoy such a wonderful appliance. I hope my pics and video helped you to undderstand in real life, what you are shopping for😀 I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it 😎 I sure hope you found this a help. Thanks👍🏼

One of the best pieces of kitchen equipment ever
My wife got me this as a present. We often have friends/family over and need to make breakfast for a crowd. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but it has become one of my goto pieces of kitchen equipment! We love it so much we have started buying them as gifts. Ease of use is the best part, paired with the fact that you can make sandwiches with any ingredients you like! Had a friend over with celiacs (so no gluten), and could just take the ring and press into some gluten free bread to make a piece the right size. Have not had any problems with it, and it's easy to use and clean. Only tricky part is if you don't want your eggs well done - you have to time it just right. A little less time and put the bun on the top a little later.

How easy!
Works better than expected and is very easy to clean. Just follow the simple instructions, sandwiches are hot and well cooked. Use care when handling hot surfaces after cooking as instructions warn.

Good kitchen addition
Easy and quick for on the run times. Easy clean up. Only able to use English muffins, bagels don’t fit; though have tried the mini’s. Fast preheat. Fast, thorough cooking. Leaves finished product EXTREMELY hot. Wish it toasted a bit more rather than just warm up the muffin, but still good.

You don't need this, but if you like English muffin and egg sandwiches you'll be glad you have it!
My first reaction to seeing this product was "they sorta went overboard on this", i.e., why design it do make the entire sandwich when the meat has to be precooked anyway ... it seemed to me that just cooking a pair of properly-sized eggs would be a big help, and would be a much simpler machine (although it wouldn't pre-melt the cheese). But my wife and I like breakfast sandwiches and this machine makes two at a time, which is better than using my tiny egg skillet, so I decided to give it a shot. After using it several times, my original reaction has been confirmed, but I'm still happy I have it, and I'm assigning 5 stars because it is a well-made product that performs exactly as advertised. As others have stated, I'm not a fan of the manufacturer's recommended process of plopping everything into the preheated machine (including placing the top of the English muffin onto the raw egg) and setting it to cook for 5 minutes. Rather, I prefer to cook just the egg for a while, and then add everything else. The total cook time is still 5 minutes, the upper muffin hasn't soaked up a bunch of the egg, and the cheese (which should be placed directly onto the lower muffin half, not on top of the meat!) is nicely melted without running off the sides of the sandwich. Cleanup is very easy, as advertised (if it wasn't, we would already have written this machine off and tossed it into a closet). The resulting food quality is quite good ... the muffins are a little chewy compared to toasting them, but it's a reasonable trade-off to get the cheese nicely melted and everything heated properly without getting out other appliances or pans.

Easy to use
This sandwich maker is amazing! I have never been able to meal prep breakfast sandwiches so fast. I can make about 49 or so sandwiches in 2 hours. That includes prepping everything and making them. Cleanup is easy peasy while the inserts slide right out and go straight in the dishwasher. The entire compartment itself though needs to have an on and off button rather than turning on just by plugging it in. Cleaning the main piece is a little tricky as there are open areas and pieces exposed that if they got wet, would probably short circuit the unit. The cooking times vary depending on the type of sandwiches you are making, but most of them cook at 5 minutes. Over time the hot plates start to chip away with the non stick coating so that’s a bummer. The size of this is small enough it will fit in almost any cupboard or cabinet.

Better than expected. Saves time in cooking everything separately.
I am an experienced cook and sometimes my husband and I enjoy having breakfast sandwiches for dinner with tater tots. Prior to getting this sandwich maker, the process of making these sandwiches included cooking sausage patties or whatever meat was used, cooking the eggs (often with diced onions and green peppers added to the eggs), having cheese slices ready, and toasting the English muffins. Then the sandwiches had to be assembled before everything got cold. This process really wasn't a big deal, but when I discovered this breakfast sandwich maker, I had to try it. I figured it was well worth the cost if it made the process easier and faster. Still, I was skeptical since there are so many appliances available to accomplish specific tasks that can be done without having to store another appliance. I tried this sandwich maker for the first time tonight, and I have to say I was impressed with the results, but have ideas for improvements I will explain later. Tonight, I made two sets of sandwiches. For the first set, I precooked breakfast sausage patties, did not toast the English muffins and did not butter them. I diced onions, green peppers, and tomatoes that were added on top of the egg for cooking, and used Monterey/jack cheese. So, after the preheat, put in the bottom muffin, cheese on top, and then the sausage patty. Closed the level for the egg, added the egg, diced onion, diced green pepper, and diced tomato, and then topped with the English muffin. For the second set, I toasted the English muffin on a bagel setting and buttered both halves. I put the cheese on the bottom toasted and buttered muffin, and diced ham on top of the cheese instead of a sausage patty. I cooked both sets for 5.5 minutes and allowed the cooker to preheat after the first set. Both sets of sandwiches were good, but what I found was: 1) Toasting and buttering of the English muffin really didn't make much of a difference other than the outer side of the muffin was browner and the cheese was a bit fried. 2) The egg on both sandwiches was negligible. It seemed to be absorbed by the upper muffin. I do tend to challenge appliances to the limit and have ideas I will try next time. Although the instructions say to limit the egg size to 1 medium to large egg. I used an x-large egg for all sandwiches and still had plenty of room after adding the diced onion, bell pepper, and tomato. I plan to try using two eggs since there was no problem adding the diced veggies. I think a visible layer of egg may be better with more egg. In addition, I will try letting the egg set before putting the top muffin on top. By putting the muffin on top of the raw egg, the muffin absorbed part of the egg, hence no noticeable layer of egg. Next time, I won't bother toasting the muffins since it was toasted fine in the cooker, and buttering the muffins only added more fat and no benefit. In conclusion, I believe this cooker is well worth the price as it saves time in making breakfast sandwiches and does a good job in making them. This is one of the appliances that does not have to be limited to the intended use. The breads you use and the ingredients in the sandwiches are left to your imagination. I am still experimenting, and will update this review when I find more uses, better ways to use this appliance, or if my opinion changes. I hope this review is helpful for you.
