Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse-finally, a good mouse for a good price
I've been looking for a good mouse for a reasonable price for some time. I tried a good number only to find most, if not all, lacking in one way or another. Some are nothing more than cheap plastic that fail just after the warranty period is up while others have just too many bells and whistles and still others just don't fit my hand. This mouse solves all that - it's reasonably priced, well made, can be programed but not too much, well within reason, and fits my hand like a glove. On top of that it looks good, too. Some complain that the high gloss finish makes it prone to nasty, disfiguring finger prints. The side rubber grips work very well to hold and guide, so the greasy fingerprints don't cause any problem in that regard. May I suggest you wash your hands? Or use a microfibre cloth to wipe it off if the fingerprints become too offensive?I'm just sorry it took me so long to see the light and buy one of these - fine mouse for the price. I'll be buying more as the need arises.-----NKW

So, it's a mouse and it's built pretty well. But it's smaller than a traditional desktop mouse. How much so? Well, the full sized laser USB mouse it is replacing is 4.75 inches long, 2.375 inches wide, and shaped like a smoothed rectangle with rounded edges. You know the type. This little lady is 4.00 inches long and 2.5 inches wide and shaped a bit like a chicken's egg sliced down the middle from top to bottom. The fat part of the egg is in the back of the mouse, and sits in your palm. This is a smallish mouse, especially if you have large hands - something I'd expect to see being used with a laptop. It is, however, made well and sports the typical Logitech quality & features. It has very good DPI resolution for fine control and a laser that isn't the ubiquitous red. In fact, when I first plugged it in & turned it upside down expecting to see the laser light up as indication my OS had found it, I saw nothing which is what it puts out when its running - "invisilaser."All in all I'm happy but it's smaller than I expected. Five stars for operation, four stars for size.-----So, it's 20 April 2017 & I've had this mouse for some time now. It continues to operate flawlessly with one minor detail that isn't a mouse problem. We have two dogs and their shedding hair is something we have to routinely deal with. One area where the hair ends up is on my mouse pad. A couple of times over the last couple of years a dog hair has ended up inside the laser well of the mouse and that causes the mouse response on screen to become erratic. Basically the hair reflects the laser light back into the receiver and that confuses the sensing algorithm. At first I thought the mouse had gone tango uniform. When I discovered the problem and understood the fix (remove the hair with tweezers) all was copacetic. It is still running hard and a great pointing device. 4 + stars!

the size is perfect for my hand
ive bought this mouse 3 times, and will continue to buy it so long as its available each time i need a mouse. the size is perfect for my hand, the profile and shape are exceptionally comfortable and the design is perfect for me. it functions amazingly, is the right sensitivity and i can even draw nearly as well with the mouse as i can with a tablet because it responds so well. the style is sleek and beautiful and i havent found a better mouse, even among the high end expensive ones.i game quite a bit and have found this one, despite lacking some of the more extensive features, is amazing. ive never had a compatibility issue with any game. and on speed, even against the elite, this one out-does in competition gaming.love this mouse and will absolutely buy again.

Good mouse, except for a few things...
Others have commented on the size of this beastie; I have smallish hands, yet I still feel that the mouse could be a bit larger (in length) and a bit lower in profile. My biggest gripe, though, is with the feel of the wheel. It just feels "scratchy", instead of the nice solid feel of my previous mouse (a generic optical HP that came with an earlier computer). As far as overall performance goes, this mouse works fine for most of what I want it to do. However, I have yet to get the tilt wheel to function in scrolling side-to-side. I don't feel like installing Logitech's software, so this is another shortcoming of this mouse. (Since I rarely need this feature, I won't lower the score to 2 stars.)The soft sides are nice, and the weight & balance of the mouse seems fine to me.Mainly, I really don't like the cheap feeling of the scroll wheel's motion - it just bugs me, like fingernails on a chalkboard (do they even make chalkboards anymore?).

Not My Favorite
I have always(years) liked and thus used Logitech's less expensive mice; the $10 mice. Model number is usually 'M' followed by a 3-digit number. They work GREAT. I usually buy a few at a time(for PC) because there are four people in our household and sometimes we go through them in just a few months. So I figured I would give the Laser Mouse a try. Its got a laser, its more expensive, it must work even better. Nope. Very poor sync between mouse movement and cursor movement. Went back to the $10 mouse and gave the laser mouse to my son(MAC), a week later he thanked me but gave it back to me. He didn't like the way it behaved either. Nobody wants it. Its now sitting at the bottom of a drawer for emergencies. Stick with the cheapo Logitech mouse. On the cheapo, my advice would be however, NOT to install the software that comes with the mouse. Windows automatically recognizes the mouse when plugged in. The Logitech CD just complicates matters.
